410 The Second Beauty Haul In 2018

So, I may have bought a few more bits so far this year. I think I have discovered a problem here. I can’t seem to stop buying toiletries and any product beauty related lately. There is one positive thing, they are not going to go to waste, and they at least will get used and won’t get wasted, even if it is in 6 months.

This time I got six items which are:

  1. Simple Kind Of Hair Gentle Care Shampoo & Conditioner

  2. Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water

  3. Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion

  4. Treaclemoon Vanilla Bath and Shower Gel

  5. Alberto Balsam Blends Intensive Mask

  6. Bourjois 1 Seconde Nail Varnish in 12 Rouge Obscur

Simple Kind to Hair Gentle Care Shampoo & Conditioner

These two are items I picked up because of the packaging. I am going away and I’m only taking hand luggage, so I needed slim packaging. These fit the bill perfectly. I am only going for four days so they only really needed to do one maybe two washes in case we go out the second night. If I like this product, I have a feeling that it is going to be a staple in my hand luggage. I am not expecting the best shampoo and conditioner ever as it is very affordable, maybe even overly affordable but this is not a bad thing. I can’t remember where I picked these two up; it was either one of the pound shops or Savers. I had a quick look on google and I found them in boots for £2.99 each, I did not pay £5.98 for them. Have a look in your local pound shop. They are a great size if you are going away, and the slip packaging makes them easy to pack.

They have the typical simple packaging, white background, and green writing. It is a very clean and fresh look overall if you think about it. The packaging reflects what the product does. I must admit that I am not a huge fan of Simple in general, but I am willing to give anything a good go. I have never hated a product, but they are just not a go-to product for me.

Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water

I picked this item up because it was on offer, and I was pretty much out of the one I had been using. I had a Nivea before so I thought I would give a different brand a chance. I haven’t opened it yet as I like to use up the one, I have before I open anything new. Even with pens, I like one to run out before I use another one. It just means you get rid of them quicker instead of them all running out at the same time. I hate having open products in my stock. I use one and get rid of it before I start the next one. Is that weird or normal? The only exception I make to this rule is face masks or if the pen is different.

I was interested in this brand because they do different ones for the type of skin you have. I have never seen this before unless I was just living under a rock. I picked up the green bottle which is for combination skin. I like that you get the choice in the size of the bottle you want as well. I picked up the biggest bottle, I like how much product you get in the bottle. You get 400ml which is roughly 200 uses give or take a couple (it says it on the bottle). This means it will last the best part of 6-7 months depending on how much you use each day or if you use it every day, which is a pretty good deal for the price, I think. I rarely use it on the weekends because I don’t apply makeup when I am just sitting around at home.

I have high hopes for this product so keep an eye out for the review; (could be a while as it will last a while) but in the meantime, if you want to pick up this product, head down to your local Boots or Superdrug. It is £4.99 in boots for the 400ml bottle, I did see smaller bottles, but I didn’t see how much they are. £5.00 and the product will last half a year. This means in total you spend £10.00. That’s roughly 10p a week.

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion

If you are like me, you know moisturising your skin is a chore and I hate doing it. I struggle with staying warm so spending time putting cream on just seems an easy door for the cold to take hold and not let go. I like to try and buy items that will encourage me to moisturise. So far it has not worked at all! I have decided that I am going to give this one a try next. It looks appealing and hopefully encouraging; it is a pump which makes life a lot easier, in general, no matter what the product is. Do you not think? I think the easier the better when it comes to things you struggle to remember.

It is a work in progress for me at the minute, I am trying to do it every day (which is failing but I am trying). I am experimenting, trying to find a routine I can put myself into where I don’t forget and don’t put it off. I think the packaging is pleasant for this product, most try to make their products stand out from the others whereas you can slot it in, and it won’t look obnoxious. It isn’t overpowering with bright colours, but it isn’t so subtle that you will forget you have it.

Again, I like the size of this bottle, it is not too big that it is hard to handle, and it will sit on your side getting grubby, but it is a good size for the product to last long enough so it doesn’t feel like you are spending on it every other week. I bought mine in Tesco, but it is widely available. I paid around £7 for it in Tesco, which is a little pricey, but it is worth spending the money on cream. Remember you will only get one set of skin; you can have a skin graft, but you need to look after your skin.

Treaclemoon Vanilla Bath and Shower Gel

I am not sure about you, but I like this brand, all their products smell amazing! These products are perfect for gifts. They all have unique and interesting scents. Although they are great for gifts this time, I did buy them for myself, I will admit I did not need this product but if I can’t buy myself a shower gel, what can I buy myself? I am trying to get through some of the products I have before I buy new ones. So far not been very successful but I am working on it. You will get a review of these bits, but it could be a while for me to get to them as I have a bit of a backlog right now.

I love anything vanilla or strawberry, when I saw this on the end of the aisle which I know is placed there to get people to buy it who don’t necessarily need or want it, a very clever thing to do. I fell into the trap. I don’t mind falling into the trap with this type of product because it will always get used, either by yourself or if it is left unopened you can gift it. It can go out of date, but it takes a year or two to go out of date (keep an eye on the label, some are 6 months some are more) whereas food can go out of date in a couple of days. So, I would rather have too many of the products you can use for a while than a product that would go out of date after a few days.

I got this one in Tesco, I don’t think this was a Christmas product so you can still grab one if you are after a new shower gel. Let me know what you think and how you get on with it.

Alberto Balsam Blends Intensive Mask

I am not sure why I was drawn to this product; it had something to do with the intensive mask part, I think. Who doesn’t love an item described as an intensive mask, I can’t think of a better type of mask if I am being honest. The other side of it is, that I have very long hair which comes with a lot of work, and I guess you would say it is high maintenance as far as hair goes. I like to try and take care of my hair; it doesn’t work very well. The ends are very dry, and I don’t get it trimmed as much as I should, I need to make a hair appointment. I am new to hair masks I didn’t know they existed but for the past year or so I have tried to use one at least twice per month but if I am pushed for time, it is generally the step I skip.

Now, this product I found in a shop called Savers, I think it was on offer so I grabbed it while I could. Whenever I am walking around a shop like Savers, I see what is on offer because you can try things you wouldn’t normally try without breaking the bank. You could argue that you spend on things you don’t need or want but it is the cheapest way to try out a new product which you might not even like. I often try things from the pound shop or savers because not only do they do cheap products, but it usually works just as well as the expensive ones you can buy in Boots or Superdrug. Just be prepared to not fall in love with the product and its results every time.

I am not sure where you can buy off the shelf other than Savers, but I found a link to ASDA so have a look at your local ASDA or just do a google search. I sometimes just put a hair mask on top of the conditioner and leave it for a few seconds to save time and to be lazy. You won’t get the maximum results, but you should notice a difference compared to when you don’t use a mask at all. I can’t remember how much I paid for this because I lost my receipt, but it is £3 in ASDA which isn’t a bad price if you ask me. I did also see this product floating around on eBay.

Bourjois 1 Seconde Nail Varnish in 12 Rouge Obscur

If you have never used one of these nail varnishes, I strongly suggest you get yourself online or to the nearest shop that sells them and pick out a colour you like the most. It could be the easiest nail varnish you could ever use. I have used 6 or 7 of these now and they have never let me down. I haven’t always loved the colours, but they are decent-quality brushes and varnish. It is so ridiculously easy to apply, it is almost effortless, and they have a lasting finish. These days, going to a salon and getting your nails done is a high fashion activity, nearly everyone I know does it and have done it at least twice. I find it is too expensive, not necessary for me. I would understand now and then for a special occasion, but I know someone that goes regularly and the cost for me is not worth it.

I have only had my nails done in a salon twice and both times I found it awkward and didn’t enjoy the experience. It is a great idea for going on holiday so you don’t have to carry the nail varnish around with you and spend time redoing them while you could be enjoying the sun. I don’t think I would do it as an everyday thing. I know some people who haven’t had their natural nails for years. I think that is me in general though, I hate to be fake, natural is better.

Anyway, I am talking about the Bourjois nail varnish. I believe my favourite colour has been discontinued which makes me very sad, I loved the colour and whenever I wore it, I received compliments on my nails without fail. This is a very close dupe of my favourite colour so I am hoping I will love this one just as much. Stay tuned to find out. In the meantime, click the button below to pick up one of these and if you see a similar colour not called Rouge Obscur, please send me the link. It is on the bigger price tag side for nail varnish but 100% worth it I promise.
