342 The First Beauty Haul In 2018

In the sales after Christmas, I picked up a few things adding to my never-ending box of things to use up. So, I guess you could say these purchases are counterproductive, but they aren’t items that are going to go to waste, I just need to remember not to buy more until I have used them up. I am good at forgetting what I have so I buy more. This year I am having a big clear out or trying to, I want to stop having a backlog of products constantly building up. I want to aim for minimalism. The truth is you don’t need 5 hand creams sitting in a box waiting to be used. Wish me luck, please. I fall into the sale trap every time, so this year I am not allowed to buy more until I have checked my box.

The bits I bought are:

  1. Anovia Intense Hydration Coconut Water Shampoo & Conditioner

  2. Beauty Formulas with Activated Charcoal Body Wash

  3. Nivea Rich Moisture Soft Shower Cream

  4. Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Wash Oil Free

  5. Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing 2-in-1 Wash & Mask

  6. Oral B 3D White Vitalizing Fresh

  7. Kenzo World Perfume

  8. Boots Extra Large Cotton Wool Pads x3

Anovia Intense Hydration Coconut Water Shampoo & Conditioner

I picked these up purely to try them out. I think I got them from a shop called Savers but do not hold me to that. It wasn’t badly priced, and it looked interesting so I thought I might as well give these two a try. I did like the shape of the bottle, I get a lot of RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) in my hands, so I sometimes struggle to pick big products up, these seemed a perfect size and weight to be perfect for me and the simple and clear the packaging makes it easy to see what is left in the bottle. I hate bottles or tubes that are awkward to hold I end up just throwing them or giving them to someone else because I can’t use them.

If you want to get your hands on this product, click the link on this button. You can find them in the Range of £1 each. If you ask me, it’s a bargain for shampoo and conditioner, now I am just hoping it is a nice product.

Beauty Formulas with Activated Charcoal Body Wash

I am a little sceptical about this one, Charcoal body wash; it just seems odd, doesn’t it? I suppose it could be interesting, Charcoal products are becoming popular now. I don’t know if a thing is, but I have known there to be a charcoal diet good for losing weight. I do not believe in it; I have never seen it in action so please do not try it without proper research and support around you. Speak to a dietician 100% before you do anything!

I picked this product up in one of the local pound shops. I love getting my toiletries in shops like this as it is inexpensive. I mean you can get everything you need for a fiver or less and you get to try all sorts. You also get quite a lot of products for cheap prices. Usually, it is smaller versions of the branded items, but it is still worth it. It saves you money and does the job, what could go wrong? Just be sure you check the label for anything you are allergic to.

This product has now been placed into my box of items I need to use. In the queue of shower gels to be used, I have a couple now so I really should ban buying any others until I am down to one. Keep an eye out for a review.

Nivea Rich Moisture Soft Shower Cream

This is another item discovered in a local pound shop although this one is a little more known to your average shops such as Boots and Superdrug or Supermarkets across the country. It is another one to put into my box; well at least you know where to come if you need a shower gel, right? When I buy bulk things, I end up giving them away, so it doesn’t work out any cheaper for me. Never mind, at least these are the kind of products that will get used eventually, it isn’t like food which will go out of date and need to be thrown away. Although beauty products do have a best before, it is the little image of the tub you find on the back of products. Often it will say 12 or 6 next to it. If the lid is off that means you can keep it for 12 months once opened. If the lid is closed it means it needs to be used within 12 months.

I believe I have used this one before so I have no worries about if I will like it or not. It is a Nivea bath product. I have never had trouble with Nivea before so I can’t see there is a problem with this product. I like how slender the packaging is, makes it perfect for travelling.

Clean & Clear Deep Action Cream Wash Oil Free

Most people believe that acne or bad skin is only an issue if you are a teenager. Well, unfortunately, acne, spots and many skin issues can hit you at any point in your life, it is generally escalated around your teenage years, but you can end up with poor skin at any age.

I haven’t always had the best skin; I would love this to change. I want to try my best to look after and care for my skin. I am starting with a rough canvas as my skin is nowhere near clear. I am working on it; I try to keep stock of items like this to have on hand should the need arise. I like to at least have one of their products available for me to try. Clean & Clear is such a reputable brand I don’t think I have tried a product from them that hasn’t worked.

My skin just feels so clean and fresh after using one of these products, even after one use. I love a good face wash in general. I hate it when your skin feels horrible and dirty. With these products your skin just feels amazing; it is clean, free of dirt and oil and allows you to wake up in the morning. I have started using this one already because I am impatient. You don’t need much; keep your eyes peeled for a full review. I can already feel a lot of love in the air for this one. If you would like to try this product, you can find it in most shops selling beauty products but here is the link, it is just £3.39 so not a bad price. One thing I would like to share is don’t get it anywhere near your eyes, it stings a little if you get too close.

Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing 2-in-1 Wash & Mask

You may question why I picked up this one as well as the one above, but this was because it has the word mask on it. I like Clean & Clear products anyway but this one stood out to me. I am probably going to alternate between this one and the other one because I love that this one can be used as a mask as well as a face wash. You kill two birds with one stone. (But please do throw stones at a bird, that is mean).

I have started this one as well so keep your eyes out for a full review. I do like wearing makeup and until recently I was a student, so funds were a bit on the tight side. This often resulted in me opting for the lower-priced makeup which is typically not as good for your skin. They aren’t bad and they still work for a lot of people, just don’t have as high-quality ingredients in them for your skin. The expensive brands can have the same effect but, in my experience, the lower the price of foundation and powder the harsher it is on your skin.

This product I hope will repair the damage done by cheaper products. This product is a little more expensive than the product above as it is £4.69 but again it is a great product. Also, a two-in-one product is always amazing. Click here (on the button) if you would like to get your skin feeling fresh.

Oral B 3D White Vitalizing Fresh

I have used many items in the teeth cleaning department but over the recent months, I have come to love this one. It isn’t the biggest tube and a little pricey for the size, but I do love this product. I tend to look for it in Savers or I grab it when it is on offer in the shops as it is £3.99 full price which is just overpriced in my opinion. I am not sure what you can say about toothpaste. My teeth and mouth feel fresh and clean when I use this product and the taste isn’t awful like some of them.

I would like to add that you need to do a little research, I bought this once because I was completely out of it, so I had to, and I paid £4 for it but the next day I went into a different shop, and it was a mere £1.99. I highly recommend you shop around for this one. Plan out when you are going to run out and don’t be desperate to get it, particularly if you are on a tight budget. You can buy it at Superdrug for £3.99 but make sure to check your local savers or buy a couple when you see it on offer.

Boots Extra Large Cotton Wool Pads x3

The next items I bought were these, I can’t remember who it was now, but someone said I should try these and see how I like them. I have slightly fallen in love with the extra-large cotton wool pads. They are just so much easier. I prefer the smaller ones for nails, but these are much better for cleansing your face or taking your makeup off.

I use too many of the smaller ones taking makeup off, they wouldn’t last two weeks if I did because I wear quite a bit of eyeliner and mascara, one of two of the small ones is used up just taking the makeup off my eyes. With these I might use two; otherwise, I get the most out of just one pad. I think everyone should get those legs of yours (or wheels if you are unable to use your legs) round to the baby section and pick up a couple of packets of these. They are on offer a lot; I don’t think I have ever bought them when they were fully priced. It is always on some sort of offer.

One packet is £2.49, and you get 60 sheets of cotton wool in one pack. This usually lasts me a good while. (I am naughty and don’t use wipes some nights) so one pack lasts me about a month. I am trying to change this because I want to start paying attention to my skin and looking after it. You only ever get one lot of skin, so you got to look after it. I do get other brands as well, not just boots.

Kenzo World Perfume

If you know me you will know I don’t go for expensive anything, I like bargains and rarely do I splurge and get more expensive items. I like the perfumes that sit at no more than £30. I don’t see a justifiable reason to spend more than that just to smell nice. If you have a shower often and spray your £1 body spray, you’re not going to smell any better or worse, but you are going to save money. There is a perfume I love, and it is £25 for 100mls or something like that.

But now there is a big but. I do love this scent. Normally I would not even smell scents, but I was with a friend, and she was looking, and I fell in love with this one. I only really bought it because I had a voucher for Christmas. It is not the most expensive, but I probably won’t be repurchasing purely for the price. It is going to be one of my favourites while I have it.

I am not very good at describing scents, as a side note I LOVE the packaging for this product. It is in the shape of an eye which is innovative and interesting and just appealing to me. I bought this in the Christmas sale, so I got the box set of 50ml for £42. I believe that the 30ml in Boots is £45, so it will be nice to enjoy it while I can. I typically don’t like the floral scents but this one has a bit of fruit, and a bit of floral and is just a perfect blend for me. A little tip for you, when they give you the cardboard piece of paper with the scent, keep it and leave it in your bag. Your bag will have the scent for a couple of days after, so you can decide if you like it and then return to spend the money.
