For my birthday and Christmas last year I got a couple of vouchers for John Lewis because the word got out that I had become a fan of Origins. Let’s just say, I have been converted to the Origins life, most of my skincare is Origins now. I do apologise because this post is a bit out of date. I did mean to post this months ago, but I lost the images and didn’t have the boxes the products came in, so I gave up I discovered the lost images last week so here goes. I had a big sort-out on my memory cards and memory sticks and was super happy when I discovered all the images of the Origins products.
I suppose you could say I may have gone a little bit overboard with the purchasing of products but hey, I can guarantee they are going to be used. In total, I picked up 12 products, but it was for my birthday, so I think that is allowed right? If you can’t treat yourself for your birthday when are going to do it?
Here are the 12 items I have purchased:
Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Gel Moisturizer (full-size)
Origins Super Spot Remover
Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff
Origins Face Mask Mini’s
Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask
Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask
Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask
Origins Christmas Basics X2
Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Gel Moisturizer
Origins High-Potency Night-A-Mins
Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask
Origins Modern Friction
I didn’t buy all 12 products in one go; I think my voucher would have cried if I did that. I started with one product that I have wanted for years (but couldn’t afford). I know this is not the cheapest product you can buy but you can see the quality in these products straight off the bat, so I decided when I got my first full job, I would buy myself this product. To begin with, there were three products I bought individually while I was hoping I wouldn’t enjoy them a lot because then I would be hooked on the products and need to try out the new ones.
Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Gel Moisturiser
If you have been reading for a couple of years, you will know I have recently been on the hunt for skincare that fits my skin. I started with L’Oréal which I didn’t have a problem with, I enjoyed the products, but they didn’t have the wow factor for me. During my search, I came across this brand, and as soon as I saw the price, I bookmarked it for another day. I am so glad I could finally get my hands on this product; it has been on my wish list for quite a while. I also wanted to wait until I had used up the products I already have.
I was looking for something light for my skin to go under my makeup for everyday use. One thing I was not aware of is the fragrance, which is amazing, refreshing, awakening and enjoyable. I sat just smelling it a few times when I first got it, it is a mix of Orange and Lemon. I am excited to get my hands on this and test it out. I am going to be upset if I do not like this product. You can pick this product up for £25 for 50ml. If you would like to grab a pot.
Origins Super Spot Remover
The second item I bought was this, which was quite cute looking as it is a very small pot which is quite deceiving; you only must use a tiny amount, not even the size of a pea so you will get a good number of uses from this small pot. I didn’t intend to buy this product. I went to have a facial with the Origins staff. This is one of the products they used, which I loved. I have similar products that I want to use up before I use this one, but I am thinking about doing a review/comparison between this and similar products I have. You may be asking why I bought it when I already have similar products and the truth is I just don’t have a good answer for you. I guess I just wanted to try it out. I do recommend checking the shelf life because this is limited to the time you should keep it. I would say buy this one when you have run out or are about to instead of buying it and storing it for a few months.
I bought this for £15.50 for 10ml, it doesn’t sound like much. If you use it over three months that is £5 per month.
Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff
As I have said many times before I have painfully pale skin. I am almost see-through I glow in the dark most of the time. Under your eyes, the skin is delicate, thin, and fragile. I tend to get puffy eyes randomly, especially now while it is hay fever season. I bought this because of the name if I am honest so I am pleading it does what it says on the tin. The price wasn’t offensive, it is a small pot, but you only need to apply this under your eyes, so it will last a while even if you do use it multiple times per day. I have now spent more money on skincare, which I am hoping encourages me to use the items.
Let me know if you have used this product before because I would love to know what you think. I have heard many things about it, so I have high expectations for it. You get 15ml for £21.00. Right now, on Origins, it is on sale for 15% off making it £17.85.
Origins Face Mask Mini’s
The next products came in sets, they were Christmas items. I got three gift sets in total. Two of them are the same because after Christmas I got it on an amazing deal. I love to try new items at Christmas or after Christmas because all the gift sets are on offer, and you get to use the smaller options before you splash out on the more expensive sizes. If there is ever anything you want to try out, wait until the sales after Christmas.
This set came with three face masks, I have a love-hate relationship with face masks, and most of the time I can’t be bothered to apply them, but I do love sitting in the evenings with a face mask on. As I was new to this brand I thought if I buy a small version of as many of the appropriate products over the gifting seasons it is the best way to figure out what I like without breaking the bank or my voucher. I hadn’t heard much about the masks by Origins, so I had no clue what to expect, most of the items I buy now are from recommendations, so this was an impulse buy.
Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask
I love the idea of an overnight mask; I am not quite there on the execution of it though. Can someone explain to me what you do when your pillowcase is covered in a face mask? I don’t quite know how I am going to cope with that, so I always end up taking it off before I go to sleep because no one wants to wake up with a pillowcase stuck to me. I like the word intensive, if you have an intensive mask there is more chance you will see some sort of outcome. I do think there is nothing worse than spending money on a product and it is doing nothing.
I also like to use this type of mask if I am in a rush or can’t be bothered with taking off a setting mask. We all have those lazy nights where all you want to do is sit watching something on the TV, a setting mask can disrupt that when you must spend five or ten minutes in the bathroom removing it. I am looking forward to enjoying this product.
I am guessing that this is going to be a clear colour, usually, the overnight or peeling ones are translucent or minimal colour if anything. I don’t know about you, but I have noticed there are a lot of avocados in products lately, including this one. From the name and the look of this one, I am recommending it to anyone who is struggling with dry skin. You can pick up this product for £26.50 from Origins.
Origins Original Skin Retexturising Mask
This is the second mask that came in the box of masks, this one seems a little brutal. I guess it is brutal in a good way, I mean retexturizing could be a positive for skin that is dull and lifeless looking. I have been told this is an exfoliating mask, but I have never heard of one quite like this before. This explains the retexturing part of the name because if you exfoliate the dead skin away it will be retexturized.
I am excited to get to use this one it sounds like it could make an impact on my skin especially now, (between you and I, it’s having a bit of a flare-up) so wish me luck and keep an eye out for a review of this product. I think I am going to give this one a go first. It also has Rose in the encouraging name, anything with Rose in it just sounds luxurious. Do you agree? I am not sure what type of skin this would be good for; I can’t see it being bad for any type so get your cards ready and give it a go.
If you do want to try this one head to your local John Lewis or follow this link where you will be able to buy online through Origins. If you buy it from Origins the price of the full-size 100ml is £26.50.
Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask
Finally, this is a great first impression just by looking at the name. Charcoal, next to clay is one of the best kinds of masks. It is clarifying, and easy to apply, and I haven’t come across a charcoal mask that did not help me even if it is a little improvement. There are good and amazing ones as you can find in all types of products.
I am under the impression that this is a setting mask. A charcoal mask is great for everything, especially your complexion, and great for those of us who get blackheads or suffer from oily skin. I am looking forward to the clean feeling you will experience when you have used this mask. Again, keep a lookout for a review, I think it is going to be the one above. The retexturing rose one.
Have you ever tried this one before? Do you want to try it? I can 100% see myself purchasing this again, I hope I like it enough to buy the full size. I like the packaging, the print on this product is catchy and appealing. This mask is also £26.50 for 100ml, the same as every mask in this box.
Origins Christmas Basics
In this next box, I bought two off, I didn’t plan to, I took my sister to get something from John Lewis and this was in the corner of my eye yelling to me to buy it. It was on offer; it was a brilliant deal that I just couldn’t pass up. I knew I liked two of the products in the box so why not get them cheaper? I can’t remember how much I paid for the lot, I think it was either £29 or £39 but you got four products, one of those products being full-sized and £39 by itself. I think I got a good deal, do you?
There are four items in each box which meant I got eight products. These include the famous Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Gel Moisture (which I have bought one in full size) so I will probably get that one used up first. The second item is the High-Potency Night-A-Mins which I am looking forward to trying, it appears rich so will be great for dull-looking skin. My skin is desperate for a little boost I am expecting great things, well I am hoping for them at least. The third item is the Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask, which is mentioned above, I like that you get this tiny size, it is kind of cute. As I now have three, I may have to pop one in someone’s birthday bag as a little addition. Lastly, Modern Friction, which I wasn’t 100% sure what it was but I thought I would give it a go anyway. Now on to the products.
Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Gel Moisturiser
I have already spoken about this one above, it was the first product I bought which sparked my love for the brand. I have heard so many great things about this product that I thought having a couple of spares wasn’t going to hurt and I was just hoping I am going to like the product.
Origins High-Potency Night-A-Mins
I am not 100% sure but I believe this is just the night cream for the face cream above. Face creams are typically divided into day and night, overnight a lot of people prefer a rich and heavy cream, so your skin can absorb the rich nutrients while we sleep, whereas we need a light and gentle one during the day because you put makeup over it, so you don’t want it getting in the way and clogging up your pores.
My skin I think fits under the problematic skin type, it’s dry, it’s oily, blotchy, prone to blemishes, dark circles, very uneven and let’s just say it is a challenge to look after it. I am very pale, so I am still struggling to find products that are the right shade for me, particularly foundation. This results in me using a lot of different products which aren’t always great for your skin. Changing up the products for your skin can be tricky, your skin will get used to one product and changing up all the time your skin can become stressed and react. Also, because I have problematic skin, I need quite heavy makeup to cover it which just adds to the problem of skin being clogged. I am hoping this rich night cream will lessen the nightmare that is my skin. The product you can buy a full-size 50ml for £36.50, which is a little on the pricey side, but you won’t need to use it a lot. I am intrigued to see how long this will last for the price we pay.
Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask
This is also an item that I have already from the box above. This is a smaller size which is a shame but makes the item very cute. As I explained above, I think I am going to think of someone I know who would use it and pop it in their presence as a little add-on. Please see above for the full description of this product.
Origins Modern Friction
I wasn’t sure what this one was, it didn’t explain itself in the title and the directions were not much help. Luckily, because I have done a short amount of beauty study, I knew what the words on the front meant. This product is an exfoliant. I was quite happy to have this in the box because I honestly would never have thought to purchase this otherwise. I wouldn’t have even looked for this product.
Exfoliating is good for your skin, there are a lot of negative things about exfoliators with the beads being harmful to marine life, I try to use natural exfoliators such as sugar or salt to exfoliate. I am guilty of using the non-natural kind and I’m not proud of it but If you have it, you may as well use it. I am going to use this product; I am excited to see if I like it or not.
I had a quick look on the website and to my surprise, the exfoliating ingredient is called skin-refining Rice, it does have Lemon in it as well which means it smells good. The full size of this item is £25 for 75ml.
