1392 Oriflame, What’s Oriflame?

Well, do you know what Oriflame is? But no cheating, you are not allowed to ask Google, I suppose I can’t stop you from asking Google, but it will be spoiling the fun, won’t it? Those of you that do know what it is, maybe you have used them before, maybe your parents used them or maybe you just know about them. Let me know below if you have used their products before or if you know someone who uses their products. In my experience so far, they are quite well known.

In short, they are a Swedish Beauty Company. If you Google, “Swedish Beauty and Wellness”, Oriflame is the first thing that comes up. Honestly, I had no clue about the company until a little over a year ago. I had never really ventured far when it comes to the beauty industry. There are so many companies and brands out there that it is so easy to be swept into the popular high street brands. Oriflame has been around for quite some time now actually, so I am surprised I haven’t heard about them until now. Whenever I bring the name up, people seem to have used their products many years ago or know someone who used them.

How did I find them you ask? Well, that’s a story for another day (it is a long one) but the short version is that last year (in 2019) I was having trouble in my workplace. There was a lot of shouting, inappropriate comments, bullying, intimidation etc which led me to look for a healthier environment to spend my time with. With this search beginning, I found an advert online with the words “Work from home” and I met a lovely lady called Anne-Marie. She told me all about Oriflame and how I can start working with her and build an income working from home. I mean, if you don’t like the sound of no commute, no parking worries, no office/work drama, no shouting, no intimidation, no risk of bullying and working to your schedule then I find you a little bit crazy! Of course, everyone has different situations, motivations, and work ethics so I do understand that it probably wouldn’t work for everyone. I still think you are all crazy for not even trying.

Guess what, just like that, literally overnight I became an Oriflame consultant. Yep, that was quick and easy. Also, they are a lovely bunch to work with! So much support and genuine people who build relationships and become friends. You pick a goal, and they work with you and help you in reaching your goal. I have heard so many ridiculous stories of workplaces getting people to jump through hoops on fire to get a pay rise, or having to chase for a working mouse etc. With Oriflame, whatever I have needed help with I have an answer within 24 hours. They honestly have never made me wait longer than that, they keep you informed, and you can ask anything! Anyway, I thought I would tell you a little bit about the company, I mean it is only fair that I tell you about them now I have told you how great I think they are.

So then, where can I start with Oriflame? The basics I suppose, are a beauty and wellness-based company, Swedish, which sells anything from nail clippers to cosy dressing gowns and watches. They have been going for more than 50 years! I have been a consultant for them for a little over a year. I have loved 99% of the products I have used so far (and I have used quite a few!). I am not surprised that they have over 3 million beauty consultants working with them across the globe. The fact that they ship across the world without question is amazing, that can’t be an easy task. I briefly worked for a company that promised next-day delivery and that got stressful in the latter part of the day and that was only in the UK!

Let’s have a little look at where it all began. It started in the 1960s (what a decade), by two very talented brothers known as The Jochnick Brothers. One of their friends also helped the brothers out quite a bit so I am told. (Obviously, I wasn’t alive at the time, so I have only read this). By 1967 they had their first physical products “on the market”. I would love to highlight that they brought out their products with 100% no animal testing! 0 animals were involved in the making, testing, and production of their products. A very commendable trait, especially in the 1960s. If I ever came out with my line it would have to be NO ANIMAL TESTING. By the 1970s they had brought out the first catalogue and the Tender Care line was born (and is still thriving now!), they are little pots of balm which you can use pretty much anywhere for moisturising! Great for those elbows and knees, and they smell gorgeous, if they sold candles in these scents, I would be all over it.

The “Ecobeauty” range came out a bit later in 2011, but I will tell you more about that another day.

A fact that will always be in the history books for you, Oriflame was the first foreign company to be listed on the London Stock Exchange since World War II, something to shout about. Paved the way so to speak. If it were me, that is something I would be proud of and by “proud”, I mean squealing like a child in a sweetie shop. Not as exciting but a step forward, is the testing unit opened in 2008. Humans volunteer themselves to test each product. This allows Oriflame to collect data and see how its products perform. For a lot of the skincare products, you can already see their data in the about section.

One of the biggest lines out is “NovAge” (skincare), which reached the market in 2015.

They had their big 50th anniversary not too long ago, that has got to be a very surreal occasion to celebrate!

Finally, just before I go, I wanted to highlight a couple of the new lines that have come out over the past couple of months and a couple of my favourites so far as well because why not, here goes, Baby O, Beautanicals, Ice Pops, Joyce, Milk & Honey Gold, Scentsational.
