Well, well, well, you have found yourself down the rabbit hole that is the internet. Welcome to those of you who have no clue what this is, who I am or what is going on, it’s nice to meet you. To those of you who know me or are returning for my latest post, hey, good evening, good afternoon blah blah blah blah.
I recently purchase some products (shocking I know, it’s not like me at all), but as soon as I added them to my (online) basket I knew I wanted to tell you about them and write a little series on them. If you haven’t guessed, it’s all hair related. Just for those of you know who do not know, my hair is pretty long so I suppose it is what you would call high maintenance.
The last time I went a bit shorter (shoulder length) I cried, and I HATED it. I love short hair on other people but despise it on me. Now, I somewhat have my life back together after various things… cough “Rona” cough, and maybe a broken bone. I decided I would attempt to correct the mess that is my hair. I have become quite insecure about it truthfully so it’s time to sort that out.
The first thing I did is have a look online and found 1001 (and more) different products and treatments at a range of prices like most things. To give you an overview, I have long hair, quite fine and thin (yes these are two different things). Because of these, it’s quite flat, has lots of damage/breakage, it’s dry, has lots of split ends, it’s fluffy/frizzy, knots quickly is quite greasy at the roots etc. One by one I want to change each of those things.
Today, I am going to talk about the five things I bought from Garnier, which are:
Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Banana Hair Mask
Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Coconut Hair Mask
Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Papaya Hair Mask
Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Watermelon Hair Mask
Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Aloe Vera Hair Mask
I did purchase some other bits as well, but I wanted to talk about these mainly. Partly because these were the important items I bought, but also because I am already using the other things.
Overall, the Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Masks are treatments for your hair, each one targets a specific hair problem, they come in 6 different scents (in total), and each of them has 3 separate ways they can be used.
The three ways to use this product are:
As a conditioner, use wet hair as a conditioner.
As a hair mask, apply to wet hair, leave for at least 3 minutes, and then rinse out.
As a leave-in conditioner, apply to wet hair and dry or apply a small amount to dry hair (only the ends though).
Shall we get on with the products? If you are not bored yet.
Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Banana Hair Mask
In general, people seem to be more concerned about the ingredient of their products these days. This mask is 100% Vegan and has 98% all-natural ingredients. The Banana mask is designed for dry hair (which of course is one of my many problems). It should… melt into your hair instantly. Again, that is great news for me. I am going to admit that I absolutely HATE the smell of bananas, so I am not looking forward to that part but if it fixes my hair then I am happy to put up with a horrible smell. Hopefully, it’s not too strong anyway. I did have a little look at the ingredients and unfortunately, it does say fragrance for the scent which is a little disappointing but not the end of the world. Ideally, I wouldn’t want fragrance in my hair products, but it could be okay.
Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Coconut Hair Mask
The coconut mask, according to the Superdrug website, the mask is also 100% Vegan and has 98% all-natural ingredients. I will say, I love how natural the product is, don’t you? The only let-down is the word “fragrance” in the ingredient list. I prefer to see what exactly the scent is, but… “fragrance” is at the end of the ingredients list, which means it is the lowest percentage of the ingredients. So, I will forgive their sin. The mask is designed to smooth curly hair. Now, I don’t have curly hair, but I also don’t have straight hair. It is a really weird frizzy/wavy mess ha. But…. The idea of smoothing does fit with my hair because I do have flyways and general frizz. For that reason, this mask could be the answer to my wishes in that respect. It claims to melt into your hair instantly, and if it does uphold that trait, it will be a bonus for me.
Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Papaya Hair Mask
The Papaya mask is also 100% Vegan and has 98% all-natural ingredients. Bonus points there. Nothing wrong with a mostly natural product in my book. This particular mask is designed for “Damaged” hair. Which I have! This one is a strong contender for being the first mask I try. It claims to help with split ends which I need lots of help with within that particular department. (I cannot confirm or deny that I sometimes sit at my desk cutting off the split ends at random). I wouldn’t mind trying the shampoo and conditioner for each of the hair masks so I can try the full package each time and see how well they work together, what do you think? I am not sure how much I like the scent of Papaya so I might have a similar situation as the banana one but there is only one way to find out. It could be a little while though.
Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Watermelon Hair Mask
This one could be the runt of the litter. Yes, it is still 100% vegan, but can you believe it has only 97% natural ingredients, such a let-down haha. There is a little half-point floating around for this one though, as the fragrance is at the end of the ingredient list again. This mask is designed to plump your hair. I am not entirely sure what that means for hair. But… anything is better than nothing. It’s a shame really because this could be my favourite scent but my least favourite trait. I could end up hating it. It’s a big old pot though, so I will be able to enjoy the scent when I eventually get around to using it. I will be sure to let you know my thoughts and if I ended up loving or hating it. Watermelon is quite a summer scent as well so I might have to make sure the sun is coming out to play when I break this one out.
Garnier Ultimate Blends Hair Food Aloe Vera Hair Mask
And we are back with the last but not least…. Aloe Vera mask weighing it at 100% Vegan, and yep, you guessed it, 98% all-natural ingredients. Not a bad ending if you ask me. I don’t know about you…. But it seems Aloe Vera is popping up here, there, and everywhere.
This mask is designed for normal/dry hair so this could be the last one I attack for the pure reason I am hoping the other issues with my hair will be sorted so I will have somewhat “normal” hair, it will be on the dryer side because of the length of my hair. I think that will always be a factor, but hydration is pretty easy, the harder problems are the damage, split ends, and fluffiness. Or do you think this should be the first one because it will be easier to fix the damage and the split ends with hydrated hair… Hmmm. It’s a tricky one... but the good news is, I am more than likely able to repurchase these so I can swap and change as much as I like.
