Your first impression must be, “what are you on about sophie, who cares about an instructor”. Well, I am going to answer your question.
Some of you will know that I am currently taking driving lessons. Leading up to my birthday I had found an instructor and booked a lesson, he became unreliable and was a nightmare to contact, so I found another one.
Went out on my first lesson, was great, and carried on with this guy. It got to 33 lessons and he then told me I needed another 20 lessons. Hmmm, I thought that’s another £440 quid, no 17-year-old can afford over £1100 in lessons and tests. So I got an assessment done by a top instructor who had recently had an assessment done on him which is passed with flying colours.
He then told me that if he was conducting my test then and there, I would have passed with a couple of minors. So I dumped the old instructor and went with this new guy, I am now set to pass my test in a few weeks, not in a few months.
So it really is important to make sure you are going with a good instructor, a little tip I have managed to catch is they have a little ID badge type thing in the top left-hand corner of their car, If they have a pink one, it means they are NOT fully qualified in teaching, so you would probably benefit from having a lesson with a fully trained instructor every now and then.
