Well, if you live on Earth, you will know many countries are currently in quarantine because of the dreaded virus spreading across the earth. Anyway, pretty much everyone I know has been doing these three things, sorting through all the skincare stuff, decorating/gardening or having a clear-out. I mean what else are you going to do if you are stuff at home with nothing else to do right?
I have been on a mission to use up the products I have (you may have heard). I decided back in March or the beginning of April to take everything out of their boxes, put every skincare or hair product in one place and go through them one by one. I have even gone over the top and written a list of all of them. I have about 200 items of skincare, I know ridiculous! The idea of the list is to make my life easier. I have split it into sections so I can easily find out if I am running out of one kind of product and if I have more. It did take about 4 hours to do all of this, but I think it is going to be worth it.
Anyway, I also found quite a few products that only had a bit left, which means I now have a lot of empties to tell you about. There are so many I think I am going to split it, so you don’t get bored.
So, here goes. The products I have used up and will be talking about today are:
Charlie Black Body Spray
Nivea Daily Essentials Soothing Cleansing Mousse
Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing 2-in-1 Wash & Mask Oil-Free
Playboy Play It Sexy Body Spray
Be Enchanted by Bath and Body Works
Jean Paul Gaultier Classic X Collection Perfume
Impulse True Love Body Spray
Oriflame Disposable Razors (3 Pack)
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
Christina Aguilera By Night Perfume 30ml
Impulse Temptation Body Spray
The Body Shop Moringa Body Butter (Large)
The Body Shop Satsuma Shower Gel 250ml (x3)
Argan Oil Hair Mask (X3)
Tresemme Platinum Strength Leave-in Treatment
Charlie Black Body Spray
What can I tell you about this one? I am not sure if these were new at the time or if I was just getting into sprays, but these were all the rage when I was in my early teen years. There are various colours you can get, pink, purple, red, and black are the main three but they also do limited editions on special collections etc. As most teens do, I went through a gothic stage where I liked everything in lace, most things had to be dark and dingy. I even coloured my hair jet black. (My parents were not impressed but I liked it). Either way, it is safe to say that I enjoyed Charlie black, mostly because it was Charlie Black. It has a fruitiness to it which I still enjoy now, one thing I love about this kind of body spray is they are subtle. They give a burst of a lovely smell, but they are not overpowering. You know how some perfumes smell good but then you feel like you are eating them?
Nivea Daily Essentials Soothing Cleansing Mousse
I do believe that I got this set last Christmas. I have tried to google this so I can point you towards it if you want to give it a go. I couldn’t find it, so I am guessing that they have discontinued it. Well, in that case, I will keep this short and sweet. It was an okay product; I wouldn’t rush to purchase it again nor can I so that doesn’t matter. If you got the pleasure of trying this product, please do let me know what you thought, how much you paid and if you would purchase it again you could.
Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing 2-in-1 Wash & Mask Oil-Free
Okay, oily skin is possibly the most annoying thing ever when it comes to everyday skincare and beauty, it limits you so much when it comes to products to use. There are plenty of products designed for oily skin but if you use them too much you just end up with more oil and your skin learns to compensate. I try to limit how much oil control products I use now but it is just ridiculous how much oil is on my skin. If you have any tips, please do let me know as soon as possible.
Playboy Play It Sexy Body Spray
I can’t find this online, and I don’t remember what it smells like. It must have been nice though because I used it all! I don’t use body sprays anymore; I prefer to use body mists or perfumes. This type just seems too temporary and like you are not putting in the effort, do you know what I mean? There is just something casual about a recyclable metal spray that doesn’t say fancy or luxury compared to a glass bottle with a fancy lid. Do you know what I mean? One thing that is great about these is the price. Most of the time you can buy them for less than £1, I mean a quid come on. (Yes, I am aware of people who don’t have £1 to spend, don’t hate on me please). You really can’t argue with that, can you? I have also noticed they seem to get used up very quickly. You can easily use one up over a couple of days. I think this has been discontinued but if I happen to see it in the shop and I need a spray I will be repurchasing it. It would also make a nice little gift.
Be Enchanted Bath and Body Works
A scent to die for! Before you ask, no I didn’t buy it and get it sent over from the US. My auntie lives in America and on the rare occasion when she comes over (twice in 20 years) she brings a spray or something for me. I have been obsessed with this ever since I got this one. Everyone I know I have sprayed it for, and they have also really liked it. It is a sweet-smelling spray, according to the website it is frosted florals and sparkling pomegranate. I am happy to confirm that it smells so good. I would spray this just so I could smell it sometimes. I would 100% repurchase this if I could. I have asked my aunty (who lives in the US) if she can get her hands on one or two of these but it is a retired scent now so it might be difficult. Also, the packaging and the designs are great, but the shape of the packaging is so simple it is perfect. I don’t like the bulky fancy shaped bottles; they are hard to store and take up a lot of space.
Jean Paul Gaultier Classic X Collection Perfume
There is one main reason I bought this; do you want to guess? Go on, I will give you a couple of minutes to guess in the comments… Have you guessed? Yes, okay, so I bought this one because I got a great deal on it. Yes, I was a silly teenager who fell into the trap of the word SALE. The full price was somewhere between £70 and £80, I know crazy for a spray, right? Anyway, I 10% got staff discount, it was already on a good offer, and I had a load of loyalty points to use so I think I paid something between £10 and £20 for it. I don’t think I will purchase this one again. I wouldn’t be against it if it were a present, but it is not something I would choose to spend £70 on. I would rather have something I can keep for that much you know.
Impulse True Love Body Spray
First, I love the new designs on the bottles, very summery feeling and are appealing. Again, great everyday scent. Easy to wear, easy to spray, simple and what could go wrong? The packaging is standard, I always lose the lid though. Am I the only one that does that? I try to go through my bits every 6 months or so and throw away anything that has found its way into the box that should be there. I always find at least 4 lids, especially the clear ones. That’s the only time I buy them to be honest, not sure why. Must be because they put them on display right in front of you when they are on offer. I can’t say I ever go looking for body sprays. It is just something I throw in the basket if I see them.
Oriflame Disposable Razors (3 Pack)
What to say about a razor? Firstly, be careful, and if you are young do not touch or go near without adult supervision. They are great for what they are, simple and easy to use. I am not too fussy about the brand of razor I use if they do the job. I don’t know what else to say about razors. They are a little expensive compared to some of the others you can get but I only buy them when they are on offer, so I don’t notice the price difference.
Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
I do love this product, but I have periods where I forget about it then I also use it if I am not wearing makeup because it feels refreshing and clean to use. Even my dad uses it now and then. I don’t wear makeup daily, there is no need, and it creates less waste as my products are lasting longer. However, if my skin is feeling a bit dull or oily, I will just grab this out of my drawer and wipe it over my face. It is a great product. Strangely I have even got my dad using it. He wasn’t convinced at first but now once I have put it on the cotton he doesn’t think twice or question what it is. I am not sure it is meant for this but in the hot months if you are feeling a bit grubby, soak a cotton pad in this and wipe over your face to give yourself a little refreshing wake-up. Go down to any local shop, Tesco, Boots, Savers, Superdrug and more to pick it up or you can order it from Boots if you follow this link.
Christina Aguilera By Night Perfume 30ml
Well, I probably sound like a scratched record. Yeah, I like this one, no, I love this one. Yep, you guessed it, it is my favourite perfume. Have you smelt it? If you haven’t, why not? Have you smelt it? I mean the second I smelt it I was sold! I used to work in a shop that had a perfume stall, which was dangerous really. I had this game with a woman I worked with in which we would try and spray each other with the worst-smelling perfumes/aftershaves we can find. Some days I STANK. Somewhere I have an old work jumper tied into a plastic bag to try and keep the smell in. Anyway, this is a great spray and I already have a new one and two spares waiting to be used. (Yes, I have three, don’t ask why). 100% I would repurchase and recommend it. I love it and haven’t found one that beats it so far.
Impulse Temptation Body Spray
Who doesn’t love a good Impulse spray? There might be one that you don’t like as much but you will find one you do like, and it makes you want to repurchase them. I am a meany when it comes to repurchasing. I can’t seem to find this one online which is a shame. I did like this one so if I do come across it, I will grab it again. I mean it is Impulse, they have a knack for getting the perfect everyday scents. I seem to be a person who loves vanilla. If it has vanilla in it, I love it. If the rumours are false and they still have this in stores I could see myself grabbing it if I ever needed one. (I don’t need any right now), I have a ridiculous number of sprays.
The Body Shop Moringa Body Butter (Large)
Well, let’s be honest I didn’t need one this big! I mostly bought the biggest one because I had the small one and loved it. I call this one my holiday body butter. I went to Spain in 2015 and this is the moisturise I took with me, everyone kept using it when I had it out. Whenever my mum or I smell it now it just reminds us of the beach in Spain, or the villa, or the pool etc. I am currently using up my soap and glory one so by the time the shops open it will probably be time to get me some more of this one. The 200ml pot is £16.00 (not the cheapest but it lasts, and it does work!). I have lost my little pot but what I tend to do is buy the little one and when I have used the little one, I buy the big pot and fill the little one up so I can carry it around in my bag a lot easier.
The Body Shop Satsuma Shower Gel 250ml (x3)
This shows how long I haven’t done an empties post. Yes, I love this shower gel. I found it by accident when I went in a few Christmases ago. I picked it up because you got money off if you bought 4 items. Boy was I happy when I used it. I would confidently say that I haven’t used another shower gel since I found this one. I have even got family members hooked on it. I prefer the bigger bottles because they are better value for your money, and they come with a pump. I will admit they are not the cheapest but if you get one of the 750ml bottles, it lasts you about 6 months. (I use it as a bubble bath as well and wash my makeup brushes with it). It is one of their best sellers. The 250ml bottles are £5.50. I do something sneaky though, I have an issue with my wrist, so I tip the little bottles into an old bottle of the 750ml. The big bottles come with pumps, so I don’t have to pick them up which makes my life 100x easier. Another thing I love about this product is the lingering smell. It stays there for hours! Every time I walk past the bathroom, I get a waft of it and enjoy it so much.
Argan Oil Hair Mask (X3)
What to say about this beautiful product? Most of the time it is only £1, I don’t think I have ever paid more than £1 for it. Yes, you are probably thinking “I don’t have time for a hair mask”, then allow me to let you into a little secret. I use the hair mask instead of the conditioner. I don’t put it anywhere near my roots though. I coat the ends of my hair in it and leave it for a minute or two (longer if I have time). The longer you leave it the better but I have never left it in longer than 3-4 minutes so I can’t tell you what it does after that. I wouldn’t leave it in too long though. So, I can’t send you a link to Savers, B&M or Poundland but here is a link to Amazon, once you know what you are looking for it is easier to find. I am going to be purchasing some more.
Tresemme Platinum Strength Leave-in Treatment
Okay, this one has a little story behind it. You may already know but I did a hair and beauty course at college. My hair was completely wrecked, I have always had quite long hair, it is down by my hips. Well, a girl on my course decided to backcomb it so much that the ends were at my shoulders, I could have cried (I almost did). You could see where the damage started in my hair, it took me about 90 minutes to brush it out. I know the other girls hated how protective of my hair I was after this. To this day my hair is still long. I went to Boots and bought anything and everything that said coconut, argan or Moroccan oil, leave-it conditioner, leave-in treatments, and everything I could find to try and nurse it back to health. I will admit, this wasn’t my favourite product. I have found others that I prefer. Not worth the price in my opinion. Now, I couldn’t find the same product, so I guess it has been discontinued. It is a shame because I would have liked to try it again now to see if it were any better on healthy hair. I loved this product, it worked so well, and my skin was 100% oil-free after just one use (only for that day though, it did come back ha).
