So, I treated myself to a couple of products. I used up the last bit of the face exfoliating product that I had. I went straight to my list of products and discovered that I don’t have any other exfoliation facial products. (This is why I decided to list all my products, instead of going through all my products to discover I don’t have the one I wanted, I can open my list). Anyway, as I didn’t have any, I went on the internet to look for an exfoliating face wash or cleanser. I couldn’t find anything that stood out for me. I failed at finding something I wanted to buy a try, but then an Avon catalogue turned up at my door, perfect timing. I wasn’t going to look but I did just in case and as you might be able to guess.
I may have found a product or two that I liked. I mean if I didn’t this post wouldn’t have been written, right? I was very impressed by the prices of the products. Everything I saw online was so expensive in comparison, so I am glad I didn’t buy anything. I didn’t go nuts, I got 4 products. As you probably know I am trying to limit the skincare products that I own. Overall, I got 4 products for £15. Not bad, right? It makes them £3.75 each.
Okay, the four products I bought are:
Avon Ageless Protecting Day Cream
Avon Ageless Restoring Overnight Gel
Avon Ageless Strengthening Tri-Phase Elixir
Avon Clearskin Blackhead Clearing Soothing Exfoliating Cleanser
What I want to know is, has any of you used any of the above products before? What did you think? Would you recommend them? Would you use them again? Out of the four, I am most looking forward to using the overnight gel.
Avon Ageless Protecting Day Cream
Firstly, I do have to give Avon a gold star for the price point. The full price is not discounted but the full price, for this day cream is £6. Approximately the same price as what people pay for a coffee every day.
To be completely honest, if this wasn’t in the deal, I probably wouldn’t have purchased it because I do have a day cream that I like but it is worth trying the creams together if you can as they are designed to work together. I haven’t opened it fully and tried it yet as I am using one up but probably in the next few days, I will be using the product. I don’t know when you are officially meant to start using ageing products, but I am 24 so I thought it can’t hurt.
I love that there is SPF in this face cream. I do have a separate SPF (but it is not the best one) so I am hoping if I layer them will get a bit more protection. From the description it looks like this is a reimagined product, they have altered the formula to improve it hopefully.
Avon Ageless Restoring Overnight Gel
This one I am very excited about this one! I typically don’t get on with overnight creams as they always seem to just sit on my skin. Even if I apply a bit too much day cream, I always end up wiping it off an hour later because it is just sitting on my skin. Gels don’t seem to do this. It seems to have the same properties as the day cream with the antioxidant and protective barriers etc. Have you seen the image? It looks cool; it is a transparent orange colour with small dark orange bits throughout. I may have fallen for the marketing of this product as it does look awesome but the price (£6 as well), the brand, and the fact that it is gel had me buying it at the first sight. The packaging is the same as the day cream, simple, elegant, glass bottle etc. Stay tuned for the review. I will probably be doing a first impression and giving my review later.
Avon Ageless Strengthening Tri-Phase Elixir
This was a bonus. I wasn’t planning on getting this one as I wasn’t too sure what it was and if I don’t know what something is then you probably don’t need it right? However, they were doing a deal where you could buy all three ageless products for £12. As the day and night cream came to £12 on their own (each £6) the Elixir is free, so it seems silly not to order it. If I don’t use it, I am sure I can find an owner for it (Christmas present). This fits the category of a fancy product for me. My definition of a fancy product is anything you don’t just open and apply.
This one has a dropper and then you warm it in your hands or fingers and gently press it into your skin. Not very complicated but will be a learning curve. I automatically go to rub products in. It is described as a serum (the posh one of a skincare routine). It improves firmness, and fine lines, Ooo not heard of that before, it has turmeric in it which has the skill of being naturally anti-inflammatory. The packaging matches the set well, it is a taller bottle with a dropper feature (which I prefer over putting your hands into cream pots).
Skinnier so potentially easier to pop in your travel bag. The one I bought doesn’t seem to be available to purchase on the website, they have another one on there, but I don’t think it is the same one. The one I have was £8 to buy separately.
Avon Clearskin Blackhead Clearing Soothing Exfoliating Cleanser
In a shocking turn of events, Sophie, and me (the one that buys a lot of products but has recently put a sort of strict ban on buying more) have run out of all things facially exfoliating. CRAZY I know. I think I assume that because I was always buying products (stockpiling them) I would have something even if it was a mini or a sample but when I finished off my last exfoliating wash/cleanser, I opened my list and there was nothing left under ‘exfoliating’. I was quite shocked but also quite proud, it means I have managed to stop stockpiling at least one thing.
The main thing that made me choose this one is the blackhead side of things. Blackheads seemed to have set up a permanent camp on my nose. At this point, I have accepted that they are staying there but I am not opposed to trying a product here and there. So, it exfoliates, it helps with blackheads, what more could you want?
There is a couple of ingredients in this one which I recognise from others saying that they are good for your skin. Don’t ask me about the benefits though because I honestly couldn’t tell you. It is advertised as a daily-use product, but I wouldn’t exfoliate my face every single day. I generally exfoliate once a week maybe twice. Although I recently broke my foot, so I have been using wipes more often which do exfoliate your skin even if you don’t notice it. I don’t use makeup wipes though; I prefer baby wipes. There are fewer chemicals and the ones I use are biodegradable (Tesco’s un-fragranced). I have used this once so far and I do like it so far. The packaging is standard tubes. Easy to open, easy to use etc.
And that concludes the haul for today. It was a bit of a short turnaround. I have only just bought these, and I have already told you about them. I am not usually this organised. Well, I am organised but not this quick ha.
Let me know the comments if you have tried any of these products or maybe you wish to use them. As always, I have included links. Unfortunately, it doesn’t let you buy the exact Elixir that I have. If you type in ‘Avon Ageless Strengthening Tri-Phase Elixir’ it does come up with two, the one with strengthening in the name is the one I have. The other seems to be similar but does not have the same formula and results.
