1293 All the Smells – Volume 1

Recently, I have become a little bit obsessed with sprays of all kinds, perfumes, body mists, body sprays etc. I might have gone a bit crazy (by a bit I mean very) in purchasing them. I have never been one to like expensive perfumes my favourite one is £25 for 100mls, and it takes me ages to use it up.

It is one of the only categories where I have gone in the opposite direction, everything else I am trying to use up and reduce the collection I have but I would say this section has increased by at least three times. Well, I have officially banned myself from buying anymore. I am not sure how well it is going to go but hopefully not having the chance to test them I should be good to go. There are a couple I have bought multiples, there is no real good reason as to why.

I am also not very picky about where the spray came from, it could be from Superdrug, John Lewis, Tesco, the Pound shop anywhere. If it smells good who cares? I typically do not put it on my skin anyway, so it doesn’t matter. The cheaper one I would possibly avoid applying straight to skin if you are sensitive just because they may not be able to use the greatest of ingredients if they are only selling it for a couple of quid at a time. Right, shall we get on with it then? As there are quite a few (50 altogether) I am going to break it down into Perfumes, and Body Sprays and the final will be Mini’s and Samples together. Otherwise, I will bore you with 8000 words about sprays and who wants to read that much?

As this is Volume 1, let’s talk about perfumes. We will be talking about the following:

  1. Christina Aguilera Classic 30ml

  2. Christina Aguilera By Night 30ml x 2 and a 50ml

  3. Beyoncé Shimmering Heat (Blue) 30ml and 50ml

  4. Jean-Paul Gaultier Classique X 100ml

  5. Kenzo World Perfume 50ml

  6. Playboy Play It Spicy 50ml

  7. Oriflame scentsensational EDT 50ml

  8. Oriflame Love potion 8ml

  9. Oriflame Miss Giordani Eau de Parfum 50ml

  10. Oriflame Wake-Up Feel-Good Eau de Toilette 50ml

  11. Oriflame Loved Up Feel-Good Eau De Toilette 50ml

  12. Oriflame Joyce Jade Eau De Toilette 50 ml

  13. Oriflame Joyce Turquoise Eau De Toilette 50 ml

  14. Oriflame Joyce Rose Eau De Toilette 50 ml

Now, I know this is many sprays and perfumes, probably way too much for one person and I do agree. I have sworn off purchasing any until I am almost running out. Apart from special occasions such as duty-free in an airport, (not going to happen anytime soon). However, I thought it could be interesting for you guys to see my spray collection.

Christina Aguilera Classic 30ml (New)

Okay, I have a confession on this one, I only bought it because it was next to my favourite one and they were £10 each. I figured if I like the by-night one I would probably like this one. So, it is safe to say this is a new one for me. I bought it in my not-so-local Debenhams. If you have been reading for a while, I am probably driving you mad by repeating I try to use things in order (it doesn’t always work) but I try to use up the old stuff before I get to the new stuff just to avoid wastage as much as possible. If you have any tips for using sprays quickly without drowning in them, please do let me know. This one has got to the back of the line as it is new. I have found it online, and can I just say how pretty the bottles are? I think that is part of why I love it so much. Right, as I haven’t used it much I took to the ever so trusty internet. Straight away I can see the word vanilla, what is it about vanilla? It is like it is my magnet. If I end up liking this one more I shall have to invest (once I have used all the existing up) in the other Christina perfumes.

Christina Aguilera By Night x 3 (2x 30ml and 1x 50ml)

Well, this is my favourite. I found it by accident when I was 17, (more than 5 years ago) and I am still using it today. I think I am on my 4th bottle. This is a default birthday present when people don’t know what to buy me for my birthday (which is why I have three). I worked in a shop with a perfume counter when it was quiet, and my friend and I would have a competition with who could spray the other with the worst one we could find.

Expensive perfumes, nope I am not a fan of them. I mean the price is ridiculous. Why would I spend £50 and a lot more when for £10 I get one that I love? Christina Aguilera is a famous singer (if you have been living under a rock in Narnia you may not know). A couple of her songs include ‘Fighter’ and ‘Dirty’ (all songs I enjoy). Typically, celebrity scents are overpoweringly strong, but this one is quite subtle. It is sweet, so if you are not into sweet maybe avoid it. Well, wouldn’t you know, it has vanilla, and it might be the only spray I have used and repurchased for years. I have a 90% compliment rate when I wear this, even random people I see on the street has asked before. You can pick this one anywhere between £10 and £30. Even for the larger size, it is not a bad price. A 30ml usually lasts me about 6 months or more. I am not one to drown myself in it, 2-3 sprays 1-2 times a day if that. Again, a pretty bottle and a nice size, it is not bulky, so it doesn’t use up too much space.

Beyoncé Shimmering Heat (Blue) 30ml & 50ml

Another one I have multiple of. I bought the second one cheap. What can I say I have a weakness for a bargain. Multiples are sometimes helpful if it is one that I like I will usually keep one at work, or maybe at a family member’s house or in multiple rooms so I don’t have to carry it around with me. I am not sure if I will repurchase this one once I have used them up, there are some other ones I like a lot better. The bottle is a bit bulky and heavy, so it uses up a lot of space and would not be fun to travel with. It looks cool for storage purposes, but it is not practical. Surprisingly, it is mostly floral and musky which is not something I typically go for, but it is nice to have something different in my collection. I mean it’s not like having too many or anything (I think it is more than 50 if you count the multiples). I might purchase this once again, but it won’t be immediately. It is not my favourite, and it uses up quite a bit of space. I don’t display my sprays, so I am not bothered about having fancy bottles. It is a decent price; you can get a 100ml bottle for £40. It is quite inexpensive with Amazon now.

Jean-Paul Gaultier Classique X 100ml

Okay, I am having trouble finding this one, so it is possibly discontinued. I believe it was around £80 but I only ended up paying about £20 for it which is the main reason I bought it. Jean-Paul Gaultier is expensive perfumes, the only reason I like them is that my mum had one of them when I was younger. I have done a bit of googling; I have found some information, but I have not managed to find one for sale anywhere. Again, it was a bit floral, a little fruity and sweet. Yes, you guessed it, there is Vanilla in there somewhere. I like the packaging, but I didn’t love it.

I am going to take this opportunity to mention that anyone who uses their friend’s sprays, please be respectful. Do not douse yourself in their products unless they do it too. I know someone who used almost half of one of mine in a week which is okay but for the expensive ones, it is taking advantage a little bit. If you want to smell nice try to bring your own. Do not purposely bring any because you know a certain person will always have it.

Kenzo World Perfume 50ml

I believe it was Christmas not just gone but the one before I was given a voucher that I could spend in multiple shops. I decided I would splurge on a fancy perfume. I will be honest I had trouble finding one that I liked. I thought it is probably the only time I will spend more than £30 on perfume for myself. I knew I didn’t care about what brand it was, or what it looked like, I was just looking for one that I liked. The main factor that drew me to this one was the packaging; I love the way it looks (get it, because it’s in the shape of an eye?). The lid is a little excessive and bulky, but it works well with the design. This would be one to get if you buy for display.

You can pay anywhere up to £81 for the 75ml of this perfume. Does anyone else think that it is a lot of money to smell nice? At the end of the day that is the aim isn’t it, so why does it matter what name is on the bottle? When I got it, I bought the gift set and I believe it was around £40. For the full price tag, I will not be repurchasing! I haven’t reached for this one much so far, I should get it back out. It is a strong scent, so I tend not to use it on an everyday basis. Kenzo seems to have an eye collection going on. If you have tried any of the others, please let me know which ones and what you thought of them.

Because of the strong scent it has, I would say it is not one to mix, you must commit to this one for the day. I prefer to spray it on my clothes rather than my skin. It makes it a lot easier to change it up day to day without having to have a bath or a shower daily.

Playboy Play It Spicy 50ml

Now this one was a complete fluke. I bought this as a gift and I never gave it to the person, so I ended up keeping it. I have got to be honest I have not used this one a great deal. The packaging is very eye-catching, simple yet sophisticated. It is the typical playboy brand with rabbit ears.

The price is good. It is £15-£18 depending on where you go and if you pay postage etc. I believe I only paid £10 for it which is why I bought it. With Amazon, it is £17.71 for 50ml which is not bad. I mean some perfumes are £50 for 30ml. I think this would be a great one for a rainy day, one that not everyone is going to know about or have.

Running with the above theme (I never thought about what kind of scents I like. I guess it is fruity and sweet scents. Yep, this one has a hint of vanilla in it too. Vanilla seems to be a popular scent for me. I think this would make a great gift, it is affordable, the packaging is not offensive so it would fit into many places, it is kind of travel friendly and very versatile.

Oriflame Scentsensational EDT 50ml

This one is also new, and I am kinda in love with this one and I have only recently received it. It has an aroma of Solar Rose which I am not sure what this is, but it sounds cool and smells amazing. This is possibly my favourite now, it is floral, citrusy (I love a bit of citrus), and it has also got a bit of a woody scent. My dad is a carpenter, so the smell of wood was a common one around the house. It is a little weird to say but I do like the scent of wood, there is just something about it. Maybe it kinda reminds me of home or maybe my dad or something like that. I also bought the mist that matches this perfume and I have read somewhere that you can put them together and create a third scent which is quite cool! It is a GREAT price, 50ml for £26. This one you can wear with the Oriflame Scentsational Fragrance Mist to get a third scent.

Oriflame Love potion 8ml (34300)

First thing first, I can tell you I bought this on offer. That is the only reason I have it, to be honest, I love the bottle and it was cheap to purchase. I am hoping that when I have used this up, I can fill it with other perfumes so I can always have my favourite one with me on holiday. I do believe you can get travel perfume containers, but I have never tried them. I haven’t used this one yet (I try to use up the one I am using before opening a new one) but I am sure I like the page they put the smell on, so I don’t see why I won’t like it. Having looked back, for the size of it, it is quite expensive! The 50ml is £30.00 and the 8ml is £18.00, so I would go for the 30ml which is £30. They appear to have got the pricing a bit off for the 8ml bottle.

Oriflame Miss Giordani Eau de Parfum 50ml

I haven’t gotten around to using this one yet, I may use this as a gift I haven’t decided on yet. Do you guys do that? Get something and if you haven’t used it within a couple of months give it as a gift. (That’s why you should keep the bits in their packaging). The colour, the bottle, the name, and everything about screams posh don’t you think? I don’t know what it is about a gold bottle. Gold just says, “I am posh and expensive” or at least that is what it tells me. I always avoid gold; it doesn’t suit me. I just think that gold is a bit mature. Do you know what I mean? Gold is special occasions, like weddings, anniversaries, big birthdays etc.

I don’t know much about the scent in this one because I haven’t tried it yet. It looks like an evening scent. Fancy-looking bottle, perfect for an evening or a present right?

Wake Up Feel Good Eau de Toilette 50ml

I love the packaging on this one. Again, it is one I have not used yet. It is a glass bottle, so it does have a spec of luxury in it. Square bottles have a casual vibe to them. It is just a standard size which suggests an everyday feel to the product. I love how simple and subtle this one is, an overpowering perfume is just never fun, I want to spray it a couple of times and not stink out an entire room. I know people that will spray it 10 times and then the entire room can taste it and smell you a mile down the road. Why? Just why? It is a waste and you do not smell GOOD! This one would look nice on a display shelf. The colours look great together, the mix of greens and yellows in the cloud shape coming through the glass. This would look pretty on a shelf or a vanity because it is so colourful and vibrant. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have all my sprays on display. The full price of this one is £20 for 50ml, a surprisingly good deal, right?

Oriflame Loved Up Feel-Good Eau De Toilette 50ml

If you have read so far you will know about the Wake Up Feel Good perfume. Well, this is another version of it. They are a collection, if you ask me, it is a great design, the colours work well together, and the clouds look impressive. These two as a pair would look great together on a shelf. Don’t you think? I think I prefer to colour scheme of this one, it’s a little more inviting. As the Wake Up Feel Good, there is a causal vibe with the size and shape of the bottle. It looks and feels like an everyday scent. (Although I haven’t smelt it yet, I might save this one as a gift as well). There isn’t much I can tell you about the scent because I haven’t used it. When I have used up all my scents, if I haven’t given this one away, I might treat myself to it. Again, it is £20 in full price.

Oriflame Joyce Eau De Toilette 50 ml

These are brand-new items to me and the world. They came out about 4 or 5 weeks ago (as of May 2020). I love the style of these, it is a glass bottle, so it has a luxury feel but the shape and the cap are amazingly simple, subtle, and perfect. They are an odd shape, so they attract the eye. It is a bit like a squashed circle. A tiny bit bulky but I will forgive them. I also LOVE that the name is on the glass (not just a sticker). I think the word embossed could be wrong, they stick out for the glass. There are three separate scents and colours you have:

  • Oriflame Joyce Jade Eau De Toilette 50 ml (Green colour)

  • Oriflame Joyce Turquoise Eau De Toilette 50 ml (Blue colour)

  • Oriflame Joyce Rose Eau De Toilette 50ml (Pink colour)

The colours complement each other so they would be perfect ones to be on display. The box they come in is also worth a mention. It is mostly white with colour here and there, perfectly matched to the style of the collection.

Oriflame Joyce Jade Eau De Toilette 50 ml (Green colour)

Okay, this is the first one I bought out of the 3. It was a great deal for around £15. Even full price it was only £21. That is a company you know is not trying to rip you off. I hate it when I see a standard perfume for £200. I would say this is the perfect scent for the spring, it is light and fluffy but also enjoyable. It must be quite hard to make a new scent; I mean there are only so many florals and sweet scents you can add. I wouldn’t say this is my favourite, but it is one that I will enjoy. I mean it is a great everyday scent, perfect for lunch with friends, working in the office, or business meetings. I prefer subtle perfume for everyday use.

Oriflame Joyce Turquoise Eau De Toilette 50 ml (Blue colour)

I am surprised I didn’t buy this one first as I love blue so much. It is just so easy to match with things. I can’t tell you a great deal about the scent because I am saving this one for a later date as I have so many to use. I have had a look on their website so I can paint a little picture of the scent for you. It is described to be subtly floral with an undertone of fresh sweetness. I have got to say, I like it. I love the bottle, the colour, the price, the minimal packaging, what’s not to love right? I was thinking about using this one as a gift, but I might have to steal it and wear it myself. I mean even if I do gift it as a gift when I have used up all the perfumes, I do have I can probably repurchase it easily.

Oriflame Joyce Rose Eau De Toilette 50ml (Pink colour)

I think I know who will steal this off me, yes mum if you are reading. It is pink and free to you so I have a feeling I might lose this one if I leave it lying around. (It wouldn’t be a bad thing as it is not like I am running short but still). This one is described as flirty and addictive. Both are strong and promising claims to make when it comes to scent. It has a bit of citrus in there (got to love a bit of citrus). Now, can we please talk about Ylang Ylang, I don’t know who came up with that as a name, but the sound is weird, quirky, unique, and just pure brilliant. Do you ask why I am talking about it? Well, I am talking about it because this perfume has it. Unfortunately, this one has not arrived yet so I am unable to share this one in pictorial evidence, but I can confirm the shape and the size is the same as the others just in a pale pink instead of green or blue.

Right then, that is the end of Volume 1. Did you enjoy it? Did you get any inspiration for your next perfume purchase? This just proves you don’t have to break the bank to get a decent scent. All you must do is nip to your local Superdrug or find your local Oriflame consultant. If there is anything of the Oriflame brand that you would like to purchase, you can contact me, and I get you set up as a VIP customer.

Let me know below if there is one or two or maybe all of them that you want to try.
