So… you know I have been saying that I have been trying to use up all my stuff and not buy anything new. Well, um, I bought a few things.
I’ve had a kinda stressful few weeks, I am still recovering from my operation (going well-ish), I’ve had a lot to get done, short-staffed at work, a bit of drama etc. Now, because of all of this, I’ve been quite unorganised, eaten a lot of junk, and ordered a lot of takeaways. And overall, my skin is paying the price for it. I dunno what is going on, but my skin is not very happy now, it’s dry, oily, uneven, and I’ve got quite a lot of breakouts happening. I am going to guess that the heat where I work is not helping (it’s like 30 degrees) and we have no windows and no doors to let fresh air in.
All of that together, I was looking at my skincare backlog and now I am using things up, I have noticed… a few gaps as I am starting to run out of things. There were a couple of items I just got to try (I didn’t “NEED” them).
Here’s what I got:
1. Oriflame Love Potion Secrets EDP
2. Oriflame Nordic Waters for Her EDP
3. Oriflame DULCE DE LECHE EDT
4. Oriflame Blotting Roller
5. Superdrug Vitamin E Gentle Exfoliator
6. Superdrug Optimum Retinol Night Cream
7. Superdrug Deep Action Blemish Stickers
8. Cetaphil Brightening Night Cream
See, told you only a couple of bits. (As I cough). Admittedly, I didn’t need 3 perfumes. I got a little carried away. I was excited to be able to smell again for the first time in years, so I got me some new perfumes. Which reminds me… I need to dig my next one out.
Here goes nothing…
Oriflame Love Potion Secrets EDP
So, I just fell into the trap. It was on offer, and it was in the same range as one that I really like so I couldn’t leave it behind. Ordinarily, it is £32 a bottle (50ml). I believe I got it for £18 or £19. At a third of the price, it was just too good of a deal for me to leave behind.
Looking into the perfumes I’ve liked in the past; a running theme seems to be strawberry and vanilla scents. What do you know, this perfume is strawberry and fruit-scented? My only complaint… I love the packaging, but I struggle to get the lid off. You just must use force to almost bend the lid a little. For this reason, I end up chucking the lid away which is a shame because it does not look as impressive without the lid. But leaving the lid behind means the bottle is a nice shape and size for travel.
Oriflame Nordic Waters for Her EDP
Firstly, check out that bottle. Is that cool or what! They have captured the vibe of the perfume with the packaging perfectly if you ask me. I haven’t tried opening it yet. I am being a good girl and attempting to use up my older stuff first. I also fell into the trap for this one. It was a good price so I thought I may as well and hopefully, I can smell it. If you are unaware, I recently had sinus surgery.
This one seems very summer-like. The light teal colour bottle (like the ocean) has a water-like effect on the bottle and the packaging. And of course, the name is a dead giveaway. It is usually £32 (full price) but I got it for £22.99. It is described as citrusy and fresh. Sounds good, stay tuned for the review when I can smell again.
Oriflame DULCE DE LECHE EDT
I don’t want to tell you the real reason I purchased this one. How about, I whisper it to you? Is that okay? Well… er. how cute is the bottle? Yep, that’s the reason I bought it. I might make this one my summer scent for the year. I’m a little bit obsessed with the bottle. It is plain and simple, my favourite. A little fact for you (from Google because I am not that smart), ‘Dulce de Leche means caramelized milk. Common in Latin America. Normally £22, I paid £15.99. Can you see a running theme here? I pretty much just buy things that are on offer. It is sweet perfect (if you couldn’t tell), and there is a fruity note as well. According to the Oriflame website… it is a little bit peachy.
Oriflame Blotting Roller
Honestly, I never really cared if I was shiny or not. I have always had quite oily skin, so it has always been a given that at some point I am going to look shiny. I tried a couple of different blotting sheets here and there but never repurchased. When I saw this, I questioned if I needed it, if I would use it, and if it would be any good.
As you can tell I went and bought it anyway. The full price is £13. I can’t remember what I paid but wasn’t £13. I am not a fan of the colour. The lid confused me a little bit. I like that it is reusable. I will let you know how I get on with it. It is kinda cool that it’s ‘volcanic stone’. Not sure it is the natural colour though.
Superdrug Vitamin E Gentle Exfoliator
I noticed that the face exfoliator was running out. This was the first one that I came across, so I bought it. It is a good price £3.99. I have used Superdrug’s products in the past. I never disliked them but equally, they have never impressed me. I must enjoy a product, or I end up just ignoring it and it goes out of date or separates and ends up as wastage. I have been working on trying to use up products that I am not a super fan of to minimise waste. This range is great for sensitive skin. I am a little bit nervous about the exfoliating part, I’ve learnt over the years that the cheaper exfoliators are a little sharp, but I am hoping that is not this one. My favourite exfoliator of all time is modern friction by Origins.
Superdrug Optimum Retinol Night Cream
This is a new product to me and a new ingredient (as far as I know). With a little bit of research, Retinol is good for preventing wrinkles, I am well on my way to 30 so wrinkles will start appearing shortly. It can be brightening and help with oil control… I’m in love with the product already. If you are a member of Superdrug, you will pay £7.49 for this one. If you are not a member… then you are stuck paying £14.99 unfortunately. Now I know a little more about retinol I can’t wait to use this one. I have heard you have to introduce retinol slowly so if you do get your hands on this… please be careful.
Superdrug Deep Action Blemish Stickers
I have heard a lot about these lately. They have been all over TikTok (sad I know). You can get a variety of them on Amazon. You see a lot of celebrities out and about with pretty flower ones. I thought getting some on and off. They seemed expensive for how many you get. I saw these, saw you got quite a few for the price, they are about 16p each so not too bad. The main ingredient is salicylic acid, which is great for breakouts, these are concentrated patches of it in one area so it makes a lot of sense that it would be effective. If they do work, I can see myself loving these. Pop them on at night and take it off in the morning. No maintenance, easy to use, don’t need a sink or running water etc.
Cetaphil Brightening Night Cream
Finally, I have a day cream that I like, and my skin gets on with, but I have never found a night cream. I get on with the Cetaphil cleanser so I thought this would be a safe bet. It’s not a bad price either for what it is. If you must pay full price, you would be paying £19.99 (not bad for a night cream). If you get onto Superdrug quick, then you will be able to get it for £13.31. A big ingredient in this product is Niacinamide. Which is great for irritated, blotchy, and oily skin. Which in turn will help with breakouts. I am looking forward to introducing this to my routine. I am terrible at remembering to apply cream, particularly at night, so can we all wish me luck, please?
And that ladies and gentlemen have brought me to the end of my little haul. Have you got any of these products, maybe you have used them for months or even years? Let me know in the comments section below if you have used them if you like them if you hate them if you want to buy them if you have bought them because of me. I want to know all the things.
