Day 8 – Edinburgh to London and then to Home – Wednesday 22nd May 2019
Today was the last day, breakfast was normal. We packed up everything, yes, I somehow got it all in my suitcase. We checked out of the hotel but left our cases behind the reception desk. We walked up to The Royal Mile to have a final look in the shops, I found a few little bits. We were done shopping but there was still plenty of time before we had to get the train, so we found to waste a bit of time, the cup of tea they gave me was ridiculously big, like the size of my head big! It was called Thistle Café and it was down one of the side streets of The Royal Mile.
When we finished our drinks, we grabbed our bags from the Hotel and headed for the train station. Now, if you know the Edinburgh train station you will know it is a big and quite complicated building. There are many platforms, but it is not always easy to find your platform. We were fortunate to have platform 2, it was a few seconds to walk there, with no stairs, no elevator just a short walk around the main floor of the station. Our train was at 11:30, just a normal train journey, ate a bit, drank a bit, listened to music etc. We got to Kings Cross a little before 4 pm. We arranged for a taxi home because it would have been hard work getting on the train back home with all our stuff. I fell asleep in the car on the way back, not for very long, but the journey seems quite short. We got back to our part of London a bit after 5 pm to which I started my final 15-minute home stretch.
