220 You Can

Now, for some people it is the countdown to Christmas, when is the John Lewis advert going to make it to your screens? Have you started buying presents? Have your children just gone back to school, so you are trying to get through all the work you didn’t get done over the summer?

I want to know what you do in September, this year it is completely different for me. Usually, I have gone back to school or in more recent years back to college. This year was the first time I was not repeating the academic cycle. This year was the year that I left the education world and stepped through the scary-looking door also known as the working world. I have to say, I don’t mind it. I mean, of course, I would love to keep having half terms and summer holidays instead of working all year round but there comes a time when you must work, and it doesn’t include all the holidays that you have in school.

Leaving education is a big decision; I mean there is nothing to say you cannot go back to university, but you are looking at working harder going back into education than staying in it. I don’t think I would go back to UNI, but you can never say never. Your mind can change at any moment in time. Right now, I think it is good for me to have a stable job and just have a little bit of time to figure out what I want to do. It might work out that I get a job and stick to it, it might be working for a couple of years and deciding I want to study.

It is YOUR life, don’t just do as you are told. If everyone followed the same route as each other, you would find yourself bored and not knowing what you do. There is a reason you have the body and the brain you were born with; you use it how you want to use it.

You have the academic year ahead, sit down and think about what you want to do next year, don’t listen to your parents, don’t listen to you parents, listen to your head and your heart. The only way you will enjoy life is if you get to travel the path you draw. The path someone else draws might be better for you, but you live once so if you want to do something do it because you will regret the things you didn’t do things you did.

I am very stuck in my ways; I never really listen to others. If I want to do something within reason, I will do it. If I want to complete something my way but someone doesn’t like that, though, if it gets done what is the difference? If you want to follow what someone else is doing then go right ahead, but if you want to do it your way and you know it works ignore them. Ask for advice if you need it but that doesn’t mean you have to follow their step-by-step instruction. You can do anything you want to do, if it takes you a while to work it out so what, eventually you will get to be quicker.

There isn’t a subject, activity, job, or life event that only one person in the world can do, no one is born with the most knowledge. You have the power to be the person you want to be and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
