Well, the travel season is upon us. Have you got anything booked? I have, nothing too far away but I believe a holiday is when you do not stay at home, and I will be away from home for a week. I am doing a tour around the Orkney Islands in Scotland; I have been to Scotland a total of 3 times, and I can honestly say I enjoy being there. The air is fresh, the sights are different, and it just feels calm when I am there. Anyway, because the tour is on a minibus so luggage-wise, we are limited, therefore I decided to take travel minis. I prefer not to because they are expensive compared to full-size products. However, what I think I might do is keep the pots when I am finished to use later, they will come in handy when I next need to take mini away with me. On the other hand, if I find myself running out of space, I can just throw them in the bin to create more space.
I am aware that I have over-purchased, and I do not need all of these for just one week, however, I often go on overnight or weekend stays randomly, and the minis are handy to have and don’t take up too much space. Also, in Superdrug, some are on a 3 for 2 which made a couple of the items free.
Here goes nothing, the products I have purchased are:
Dove Deeply Nourishing Body Wash – Two
Nivea Pearl & Beauty Roll-on Deodorant
Nivea Hand Cream Smooth – Smooths and Softens Shea Butter 30ml
Nivea Daily Essentials Refreshing Cleansing Wipes for Face Eyes and Lips
Tresemme Moisture Rich Luxurious Moisture Shampoo - Four
Tresemme Moisture Rich Luxurious Moisture Conditioner - Two
Right Guard Women Total Defence 5 - Three
Aquafresh Triple Protection Fresh & Minty Toothpaste
WBM Beauty – 3 Travel Pots - Two
Panda Flannel
Cussons Carex Complete Strawberry Laces Soft Cleansing Wipes - Two
Superdrug Fruity Orange and Satsuma Shower Gel
Savlon Antiseptic Cream
Original Source Tingly Mint & Tea Tree Shower Gel
Johnsons Baby Powder
Now you know what I bought; I should probably let you know a little bit about them. If you are not bothered about the finer details, please leave now. If you would like to know a little more continue reading but don’t worry, I am going to keep it short and sweet in the style of the minis.
Dove Deeply Nourishing Body Wash – Two
So, how can you say no to the Dove? I chose this because I liked the bottle, it is quite thin so is perfect for travelling as it will slip into most small places. My main worry is getting the product out of the bottle, we all know how annoying it is getting the last little bit out of the bottle, so I am hoping that doesn’t pose a problem towards the end of the holiday. I did buy two because of my reason above that I go away a few times for the weekend so again just handy to have it around. You can pick this up for £1.50 at your local Superdrug. It is sold elsewhere but the price will vary. Otherwise, look at this link.
Nivea Pearl & Beauty Roll-on Deodorant
Well, this one is a bit self-explanatory if you ask me, why would you not want to buy deodorant to take with you? I bought both kinds because I prefer the spray, but the roll-on will last longer over the week. This was the only roll-on that was being sold at the time of purchase, so I had no choice but to purchase this one. My plan for this one is that I will take the spray and when the spray is finished, I will use this one. It is going to be quite an active holiday so it will be nice to have one in my everyday handbag as well as in my toiletries. The roll-on ones tend to last well so that is the main reason I did not purchase more than one of these.
Nivea Hand Cream Smooth – Smooths and Softens Shea Butter 30ml
I am not too sure why I bought this one because I have plenty of small hand creams that I could take with me, but I did so there you go. Nivea is not my favourite skincare brand if I answer honestly. They are not horrible products, but I can tell you that I have never seen big results from their product. I am not completely sold on the packaging if I tell you the truth, it seems quite bulky, so it is going to depend on space. I must fit a week’s worth of clothes in hand luggage as the trip is on a minibus so you can see why I wanted to get travel items. Please wish me luck!
Nivea Daily Essentials Refreshing Cleansing Wipes for Face Eyes and Lips
I choose not to use makeup wipes. I haven’t had much luck with them in the past. My eyes seem to react to them whenever I have used them in the past. You may then be a little confused as to why I got these, honestly, it was just a small packet of wipes to put in my handbag. If you have travelled a lot, you will appreciate how much a wipe will come in handy when you spill your lunch down your freshly washed jeans on your way and you only have one other pair of jeans.
Tresemme Moisture Rich Luxurious Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner - Multiple
Now, this one, it didn’t mean to buy more of the shampoo than the conditioner, I accidentally picked up four shampoos and 2 conditioners, but I meant to pick up three of each. There is no fancy or amazing reason as to why I bought these products. Purely because it was there as an option, and I use this shampoo in my everyday life. To be honest there is no real reason as to why I use this brand, the size of the bottle is a bonus because it lasts so long and if to your local Savers shop it is very cost-effective.
Right Guard Women Total Defence 5 – Three
I prefer the spray deodorant in general and this is one I use every day. I have been using this one for years. I generally get the biggest bottle you can find so you can see why I would want a smaller one to go away. If I am not limited to space, I just use the bigger ones. I have bought a couple of these because they are handy to have in your handbag as well. I couldn’t find the link to these so I must have bought them, Savers. I have taken this one because I estimate that it won’t last the full week, but please correct me if I am wrong. I did also grab a roll-on to keep in my suitcase in case I run out halfway through. Although it won’t be that much of a big deal at the end of the day because worst comes to worst, I find a local shop.
Aquafresh Triple Protection Fresh & Minty Toothpaste
Again, the shop I went to this was the only option. If I am going with family, I just take one tube of toothpaste to use between us but as I am going as an individual it is just handy to have a small toothpaste on hand. This is not my favourite one to use, but it is toothpaste if it does a good job the brand or the type of toothpaste doesn’t matter. I think I am going to struggle to get worth of stuff into one hand luggage bag. I will just have to be careful and leave all my present buying until the last day. After the last day, it doesn’t matter too much as we won’t have to squeeze onto a minibus.
WBM Beauty – 3 Travel Pots – Two
Well, I didn’t need these, but it is handy to have empty pots around. I like to dot hand cream around my room, at work and my Grandparent’s house because I am bad at putting it on so if it surrounds me, I am more likely to put it on. So, if I don’t use these for my holiday that I will be using them anyway, they are 100% worth the money. I believe they were either £1 or £1.50 each so I got two lots. One thing I didn’t know but they do come with a spatula as well which makes them easy to fill and you don’t get into a complete mess.
A little tip if you are worried about forgetting what each one is. Use a permanent marker to remind yourself and when you find that you have used up the product inside the pot you can either top it up for next time or if you get a bit of nail polish remover the permanent ink will come off.
Panda Flannel
For this one, panda flannel is not important. Panda is one of my favourite animals so when I saw the panda flannel in my local Savers, I had to treat myself to a new one for my holiday. I usually try and purchase a couple of new bits for when I go on a holiday, I don’t like to get an entirely new wardrobe, but a few things are nice. I like to have one dressy top that I can wear in the evenings when I go out for dinner.
Cussons Carex Complete Strawberry Laces Soft Cleansing Wipes – Two
I bought these after I bought the makeup ones so I might give the makeup ones to someone who would use them. As I explained, these always come in handy, no matter the situation. When you are travelling and don’t have the opportunity to get changed at any point wipes help clean things up, help a stranger out and even wipe a dirty seat down so you can sit down.
Superdrug Fruity Orange and Satsuma Shower Gel
So, I sort of have a thing for Orange and Satsuma. I am not sure where it has come from but suddenly (about a year ago) I enjoy the scent. It is refreshing, awakening and in general a pleasant scent. It is quite a strong scent in any product so if you are sensitive, I would be a little careful but as a Superdrug product, it is cruelty-free, and should be okay for sensitive skin. From the description on the website, I would say this is a great product to get ready in the morning with. At just £1.50 each, you can’t go wrong. Also, as a little side note, the bottle on this one is a good shape and size. I am tempted to purchase another one and then I can decant future products into these empty bottles.
Savlon Antiseptic Cream
I use Savlon quite often, but I always end up throwing it away because I never use all of it which is a waste. About two months ago I went on a hunt to find the smallest tube I could get my hands on. The smallest one I found was a 30g. What I didn’t know is if you can get a 15gone if I wait until the travel minis come out. So, I have bought one to take with me but also use in general. I hate throwing out products and wasting them so although it is cost-effective to get the bigger ones, it isn’t worth it if you find yourself throwing them away. The 15g tiny one is £1.50 unless you get the 3 for £3 deal now which makes it £1.
Original Source Tingly Mint & Tea Tree Shower Gel
Again, this was just to top up my minis, it was part of one of the deals, so I popped it in my basket. I can’t think if I have used the bigger version of this product. I must have at some point; I quite like minty things, but I wouldn’t use a minty product in the winter. I am not sure of the science behind it, but you feel the cold a bit more for a few minutes after using a minty product which sucks in the winter. However, even if I end up giving it to someone else as part of a gift it is handy to have these things around.
Johnsons Baby Powder
I will let you in on a little secret if you are careful. This works as a dry shampoo in your hair but if you overdo it, you might find yourself ageing a little bit too fast. (By that I mean your hair will look grey.) Believe me, the number of times I have ended up looking a little grey. These tend to last me years, so I like to buy the smallest one possible when I find myself running out. I have also noticed that my one disappears into a family member’s room quite often so I might have to hide this one.
Right, on that note I believe we have reached the end. These are all the products I have bought from the travel minis section of the shops this year. I typically don’t need travel minis for going on a holiday, however, I often stay with family for a couple of nights here and there during the years, so the smaller products are better to pack for the weekend stays. Often as well, if you find yourself going for just one night a couple of times a year, these products can last all year.
