158 November Showers

If you live in the UK you may agree that the weather has taken an icy turn. Now if you are anything like me you feel the cold even when it is 50 miles an hour. I struggle to stay warm when it gets cold and dark (wintertime). Just the other day, I arrived at work when it was not far from pitch black, and I left work when it was pitch black. Almost as if daylight never happened.

My top tips for staying warm are…

Hot Chocolate

I love hot chocolate in the winter! My favourite bought hot chocolate is from McDonald’s. It is just perfect, not too sweet not too bitter. Making it yourself at home, my favourite is the Galaxy one. I find it mixes really well; I can’t be the only one who hates it when the hot chocolate is all lumpy!

Tea, lots, and lots of tea

I have come to realise that tea solves many problems. It warms you up, it wakes you up and sometimes when I am feeling a bit rubbish. Tired, achy almost like I am getting the flu, if I have a mug of tea it usually helps me feel a bit better. Unless you are from the UK you may not know what I mean by tea as there are all sorts of crazy teas out there. The mug of tea I am talking about is the English Breakfast tea. I usually use PG tips or Tetley.

Blankets

LOTS of big fluffy ones, I have about 6 different ones of all different sizes. There are many places where you can get a blanket. I love Dunelm Mill blankets. They seem to last really well compared to others. They aren’t cheap, they are most affordable but really worth the money you spend on them.

Thick Duvet

I have a really thick winter duvet, but I use it all year round. I believe it is something like 18.5 togs. I know there are warmer out there but the one I have is just about right, I wouldn’t mind a bit warmer but add a warm blanket and it is perfect.

Bubble Baths

There are some days when no matter what I try I cannot get warm. Often there is the only way I can get warm on these days is to run an extra hot bubble bath. I love LUSH products but there is not a store too close to me so unfortunately, it is a treat if I get to use LUSH. I generally use Radox bubble baths, I like the red and blue ones.

TV series

When it gets cold often there is not much to do outside, I find something I want to watch and get into it with a bowl of popcorn. At the minute I am rewatching Charmed, not everyone will know what it is because it is a little old now, but I highly recommend watching it. It is about three witches who fight demons to destroy the source of all evil while trying to live normal lives. It sounds boring and cliché but it is actually interesting and funny.

Tights

I love really thick fleecy tights. Marks and Spencer do the best ones. They are kinda expensive for tights. One pair is £15 but they are 100% worth it. They do have slightly cheaper ones but they are not the same. The tights I get are brushed on the inside which adds a large amount of heat. The ones I get are 180 Denier Heatgen.

Layers

I always layer as much as possible. I work in a shop and during the winter months I have to wear 4 maybe 5 layers and I am still cold. If I have the right shape and colour I try to wear a thermal top underneath whatever I am wearing. I know you can find them in Tesco and you can definitely find them in Marks and Spencer. You can get almost any piece of clothing in a thermal material from Marks and Spencer.

Candles

I always find that lighting a candle or two adds a little warmth to the room. My favourite candles are the Yankee Candles, they are strong and one small candle fills the room with its scent. Speaking of the scents my favourite in any type of candle is Vanilla. I also love ASDA candles, they are a good price, smell awesome and look lovely.
