15 Learning to Drive

I thought I would have a little chat today. I’ve been quite busy so a chilled post can’t go wrong. So, a lot of you will be learning, will be learning soon, or are looking forward to learning to drive. I know from a very young age I couldn’t wait to drive.

The thing most people don’t think about when learning to drive is how much it will cost. Now I knew it wasn’t going to be cheap but so far, I have spent almost £1,500 on lessons and tests! At 17 that is a massive chunk of money, you get from your job or from your birthday etc. Right so lessons, and tests out the way, you then have bought a car which everyone knows isn’t cheap, then there is car insurance which is very IMPORTANT you can’t drive without it. There is an MOT which is a little service type thing in a garage which checks your car is working and is safe to use. Next, you need TAX, I’m not 100% sure about the price of this as it varies, and you won’t know for definite how much the tax will be you’re your car. Now you have got the basics you now need petrol/diesel which again isn’t cheap! and finally, you will need to pay for anything that breaks on your car in between all of this.

So driving is a good size money pit, especially in the first few years. If you keep yourself on the good list, keep your car well, pay for everything and drive legally you will slowly find that the money you spend on your car will reduce dramatically!

Good Luck everyone, as always feel free to leave a comment or contact me on my contact page.
