Anyone got a guess as to what the title may mean? No, maybe, yes?
So… what I mean by “Getting a tank” is I got a fish tank. I have wanted a fish tank for a while, maybe even more than 5 years! My dream is a saltwater tank with coral and big fancy fish. Realistically, I don’t have the space for a saltwater tank, they require a lot of room for all the equipment you need. It involves salt tanks, pumps, and quite a lot of maintenance.
I have gone for a fairly straightforward basic freshwater tank. I don’t want to call it easy, but I do want to say it will be a whole lot easier than a saltwater tank. I have decided I will be getting tropical fish.
I am a lover of animals of all kinds, if they are in the water, pets, or wild, (maybe not those pesky spiders) but most other things I like. If I had the time, space, and funds I would own a house where I can have more animals (or rescue more animals). I am the person who feeds her animals before I eat.
Anyway, I decided I was going to go ahead and get myself a tank and get some fishies. I have never even looked at fish tanks let alone bought one. I had no clue where to start, what was a good price, what was expensive, what was a good brand etc. So, I went to my local Pets at Home just to get a rough idea of what sort of price I was looking at.
I can tell you… it’s a fair price to get yourself a fish tank set up. You need quite a few things, I naively thought that you buy a fish tank, decorate it, buy fish, and plop them in. NOPE, no, and definitely not. It is a lot more complicated than that.
You have to let the water settle in, and get the conditions correct, for example, the PH. You need to make sure your filter and heater are working. And once the tank is ready… you need to introduce your fish slowly. Your local fish shop… should be able to advise you and direct you to the best beginner fish.
Stayed tuned to learn more about the set-up and the fish that I now own. And yes. I have named them all. Sad, I know but I don’t care.
