153 Classic Case of Keep or Throw

If you know me personally, you will know that due to some electrical issues my house had to have some alterations. The electrics had to be done from scratch more or less. The day before the work we got a call telling us that they no longer wanted to start from scratch, they are just going to be redoing what they can without chasing the walls. Chasing the wall is where they put a narrow line to get to the wires.

As we were told too late, we had already packed up 90% of the house into boxes and moved them into the garden under a canopy to attempt to keep them safe and dry. As a result, my room felt very empty and bare which I thought I would HATE. Turns out I love it; I honestly didn’t think I would, but I do and have decided that I am going to keep it not as bear as it is but not as cluttered as it was. I made a set of new rules on objects in my room. The rule is slightly altered depending on what the item is.

Clothes

Every item of clothing had to match with at least two other items, I must wear it at least once a month, and it must fit me properly. If it is a seasonal outfit such as a summer dress or Christmas jumper it is slightly different.

Ornaments

The ornament must match my room or have some sentimental value. If I just bought it because I like it and it doesn’t fit in with my room it is gone.

Furniture

My room is staying in boxes until I get furniture that is not falling apart. Most of the furniture in my room is held together with extra bolts and lots of glue.

Products

I am on a mission to use up any products that I have and I am not allowed to buy more until I have used up that entire product. An example is I have about 6 different tubes or bottles of hand cream. I am not allowed to buy anymore until I have used all of the ones I already have.

Other Items

Down to my discretion, only under extreme circumstances should I purchase new ones until I have used up the ones I already have. I am a nightmare with stationery. I have about 100 black biros. I do not need 100 black biros, I mean I know I write a lot but at most I need 1 or 2.

Long story short, no more buying things you don’t need. You may also see this as saving money!
