2413 Chipping Away

So… how is everyone? Not going to lie. I have been in a bit of a rut lately. This is my way of saying that I haven’t been on top of my game, and let a few things slide. A lot has been happening, some big changes but it means I have been busy and before I knew it Monday would come around and I didn’t even have an idea for a blog post let alone one that is ready to go live.

My sleep schedule is all over the place because my mind has been going 160 mph. I have been falling asleep when I get home from work so everything has gone topsy-turvy. And there have been lots of things that were unexpected. I treated myself to a nice soft warm duvet with my Christmas money… I had to send that back because it fell apart, so I haven’t had a duvet. So, I’ve had 10 blankets piled up to try and stay warm at night. I had an unexpected issue with one of my fish tanks which meant I had to drop everything and sort that out.

So, it just seems that lately by the time I get to sit down and take a breath, it’s already 10 pm and I haven’t got anything done.

And… I have told you all this to get to one point. I don’t know if you would call it a tip, advice etc. But as I have been quite busy my living space is just a mix of everything, I have used but not had a chance to put away or half-drunk drinks etc. For me… this is really off-putting and gross.

So, I have made a mental plan to chip away at the mess. Even if it means I move one thing to where it should be in a spare 10 seconds, I am determined to set aside 10-15 minutes a day to just do sprits of cleaning/tidying. And slowly, it will get to a point where it only takes 5 minutes to tidy my space at the end of the night. Get back into the habit of putting things away as I finish with them instead of leaving them sitting on my desk.

I have been doing a lot of crochet lately, so I keep finding the random bits of wool on the floor where I have weaved in the ends and cut off the end but either put them in a pile to go in the bin or my cat has managed to find them and been playing with them. I would like to aim to get them in the bin quicker.

Hopefully, doing a bit each day it will get easier over time and quicker, but it will also make me motivated to keep it up. I am going to invite you all to join my challenge. You pick as much as you would like to do each day, and slowly we will get there. Even if you just put a cup by the stairs to go downstairs, or maybe put a new toilet roll on the holder etc. It really doesn’t matter how big or little the task is, doing a bit each day. I put my favourite song on, and just go around putting things back where they belong for that song, then the next song collects any rubbish for the bin etc.

The last thing I wanted to mention is that… I will be having another change at the end of this week, so please give me a minute for a week or two while I get a new routine in place. I will have a new journey, a new home time and be out of the house on different days (I got a new job) so I will be learning new things, trying new things, and getting used to a new way to do things at work and home.

For now… I will wish everyone joining me in the challenge, lots of luck and let me know how you get on! And everyone who already has their lives together and doesn’t need the challenge, enjoy your lovely clean and tidy living space and read a couple more blog posts.
