A Month of Chaos, Fun, and Some Unexpected Surprises (February 2025)
Well, what a ride! It started off pretty hectic. There was so much going on, from new tattoos to car breakdowns and lots of new medication. A month filled with memorable moments, some good, some frustrating, but all of them unique.
The month kicked off with a bit of spontaneity. On a whim, I decided to get a tattoo on my arm. I mean, I was driving my sister there, so it was rude not to get one, right? It was something that had been on my mind for ages; I just hadn’t done anything about it, but I absolutely love it. SO happy I did it! It’s the perfect addition to my collection of meaningful pieces. I couldn’t be happier with it, and I’m already planning my next one! It was followed by a new piercing 24 hours later! Go big or go home, right?
We also had a little adventure with Hux and Hads, (My Nephew and Niece). We took them to a miniature railway in Ware. If you’ve never been, it’s definitely worth a visit. It was such a cute spot, and there were freshly made donuts (yes, please!), plus we checked out Van Hage Garden Centre. I found some ginger biscuits for my Grandad as well so it was a win win.
I even treated myself to some new nails during this time, which took an impressive two and a half hours, but the results were totally worth it. I felt like a million bucks with my fresh, perfectly done nails. They were blue and sparkly! (two of my favourite things.
Oh, and I also invested in a retro olive-green fan heater from Dunelm. My house has been freezing lately, and mornings were just unbearable. Finding it on sale felt like hitting the jackpot — I love a good bargain! The heat from it is very impressive for such a little thing.
Medication, Work Drama, and Family Time
One of the more significant events this month was starting more of my new medications. Fingers crossed, this is the one that works without any nasty side effects. It’s always a bit of a gamble when you’re adjusting medications, but I’m hopeful this will be the correct path and improve things for me. Stay tuned if you’d like to learn more. I will say it is treating a chronic lifelong disease.
In work news, things have been a bit complicated. After months of asking my company to act on something, they finally agreed to do what I requested. It felt like a big win, even if it took ages to get there. Honestly, I wish companies would listen to their employees more — we know our bodies best. At the end of the day, all they want is to make a profit.
On a more fun note, Dad, Grandad and I booked into the local Harvester for dinner, though I was a little taken aback by the new menu. Everything comes with cornbread now, and I wasn’t sure I was a fan. But the meal was very nice, and quite affordable.
I finally managed to get a haircut this month and boy, did it need it. My hair had gotten so dry and full of split ends, so I got a big chop. It’s the shortest it’s been in YEARS! I also had to get the flu jab due to my recent diagnosis, and surprisingly, I didn’t have much of a reaction. Just a little soreness in my arm and some mild redness where I got the shot. Overall, it wasn’t as bad as I thought, though I did feel a bit run down for a day or two. I’ve heard horror stories about it.
Do you remember the cat mum and I rescued a few weeks ago? Well, it turns out that the little escape artist managed to find his way out again! Such a shame to see him out in the cold! Hopefully, we can catch him again and take him home. He is a little cutie, though.
Romford Rock and Mineral Geology Festival
One of the highlights of the month (and a bit of an ordeal) was the Romford Rock and Mineral Geology Festival on the 22nd. On the way there, my car’s battery light came on. I didn’t think much of it at first because when I stopped and restarted, the battery light on the dash disappeared. A few minutes after setting off, the battery light was back on! Ergh. Then, as I was parking on a very busy road, the car completely lost power. The steering went stiff, and it wouldn’t move, half sticking out into the road, of course! What better place to break down? Luckily, even though I had broken down, it was right near my Grandad’s house. So, Dad and Grandad came to the rescue once again. Now it was up to Dad to figure out what was wrong.
The festival itself was fantastic! I love how involved everyone is at these events. People are passionate about rocks and minerals. I didn’t go overboard with buying things this time (trying to be good with my money), but I couldn’t resist getting three bracelets and a little tortoise. It is held in a small community centre in Romford. Lunch is so simple, its bacon or sausage sarnies with a cuppa. No frills, but the money is going into supporting the community centre.
When we got back, Dad had worked out it was my alternator. But of course, it’s the weekend, so no part shops are open. We ordered one online, which meant we had to wait for delivery. So…
I had to steal Dad’s car to drop my friend home that evening and get to work while we were waiting on the parts. Let’s just say it is not a small car. It is a Free Lander 2. I’ve driven a manual car for 11 years so driving a big automatic is an adjustment. I was dreading having to defrost the windscreen though, I wouldn’t be able to reach!
Towards the end of the month, I had another blood test, which is always a fun experience! I am quite lucky as I don’t mind medical things. Ya know how some people really don’t like the dentist or having tests done, it just doesn’t bother me.
As for work, it’s been getting more complicated and not in a fun way. I don’t mind a challenge because it keeps your mind ticking, and knowledge is never a bad thing. The main issue at the moment is that the system is quite dated and in a mess, so every time you try to do one thing, there is one problem or another. I cannot remember when I last completed a task that didn’t require me to fix something or find something. Keeps you on your toes!
Overall… A Mixed Month
Looking back, February was a pretty busy and chaotic month (what’s new). There were plenty of highs, like the tattoo and the festival, and some lows, like the car breakdown and the flu jab.
But… I got through it, and life continued. My dad and grandad have been lifesavers, especially when my car decided to break down (again!). I wouldn’t mind at least 2, maybe 3 weeks where I don’t have a curve ball to sort out. No hospital appointments, no cars breaking down. Just everything flows nice and easy.
So, here's to March, more fun adventures, and maybe a bit of relaxation!
Let me know what you got up to!
