I haven’t always thought about this too much. I just thought you were poppy and that was it. As I have got older and understood what it is all about I believe it is very important.
Everyone who lives should appreciate the work of soldiers. You get to live your life, eating, and drinking when some people chose to give up their life so you could sit down every night with your family and eat your meals. It is a decision not to be taken lightly.
Some may think it is a stupid idea. Why should we waste our time when it was their choice to go out to war? They don’t choose to go out and get killed. They choose to stand up and support their country by fighting. They choose to risk their own lives purely so people at home can have a better life. Some make it home to their families, but many don’t. Today is the day to show your appreciation to anyone who is fighting or has fought. Alive or not, they still risked their lives for us to have a better one.
What I am trying to say….is that if any soldiers read this. I am honoured to have you fighting for this country. You amaze me and will always be appreciated; I will wear my poppy with pride. Honour those who have lost their lives, support families of those who were lost and help anyone injured to the best of my ability. It takes great courage to fight a war. I don’t know about everyone else but I am proud of you.
Thank you to all of those who were sadly lost and good luck to all of those who are still fighting.
P.S. I am truly sorry for all the families who have lost anyone if it is a father, brothers, grandads, sons, grandsons, mothers, daughters, cousins, friends, sisters, grandmothers, aunts, or uncles. It doesn’t matter who you have lost someone to war. I take my hat off to them and you. They deserve to be celebrated for their courage to risk their lives to help and improve yours!
